Can anyone recommend a natural area mosquito repellant? I'm getting really sick of getting eaten up every time I go outside.

When I went to the Caribbean 20 years ago, I took Avon Skin So Soft. It worked great. Everyone else was COVERED in bites. I had maybe 2. It just smells is all.

Dangit Jen, when are you going to start planning your life around my schedule? We have a pool party tomorrow so we wont be up for anything.

Are you going to Phoenix just for the museum? I've been wanting to do the Children's Museum there, is it big and little kid friendly?

Jared has to go to phoenix on business, so I am going to ride along.

Ive not heard much about the museum, other than it is new... We normally go and chill at ikea for a couple hours but the thought of doing that with the newly defiant and mobile olive sounds stressful.

Im looking to do something a little more fun and child friendly.

Here is a list of the exhibits.

I got "buzz away" at whole foods, its a citronella spray with other EO's.
I bought it for our trip to MN, but didn't need it once up there - as soon as we got home a few days ago poor Z was covered with bites! I've made sure there is no standing water around but they are THICK in our yard. Since I used it she hasn't got any new bites. (me either!)

we got All Terrain Herbal Armor at whole foods. it smells pretty strong but has really been working for Carter!!

Darn! At first we were all alone there, and it was lonely... but then one of the other park crews arrived (blanking on parent names, but the kids are Perin and Bishop), and it was a nice morning.

Anybody planning on the park tomorrow morning? My plan is to be at the park about 8-10, then go to Himmell Library for toddler storytime.

C's nose is running, too! But it actually looks my schedule today is getting really wonky, and this afternoon will probably not work out for us afterall. Hopefully we can make it work later this week? Though I think you're going to Phoenix... anyway, we'll figure something out!

Thanks for the recommendations on insect stuff. Haven't tried anything yet but plan on getting something asap.
So everyone is welcome to come swim and play at our house this Sunday! We will have snacks to share. I get off of work at 4 so anytime after 5:00, we would love to see people. : Aurin is a one year old little bug today!! WOW!

Hi everybody, it's nice to see such an active group of mdc moms in my new hometown!

I didn't get time to read through all the replies, although I did see photos of some very beautiful babies. Does anybody here have older children? My sons are 16 and 8 (and I have a 19yo dd who goes to college in NY & is only with us during vacations).

We are actually on the way to Tucson right now to have a look around. I was fortunate to sell my house in NY, despite its desperate need for repairs way beyond my ability & desire. Luckily it was in a desirable location (to the new owner anyway) so I ditched it. Probably we'll be getting to Tucson in the next few days. It's taking forever to drive, in part because I seem to have aggravated a prior neck injury.

Actually can anyone recommend a wonderful, gentle chiropractor, craniosacral therapist, massage therapist or whoever you know of that might be able to help me get past that? Gentle is essential b/c I think this is probably a fibro/lyme flare-up, maybe from too much driving.

And I would love any input about schools in Tucson (elementary & high school). I see some of you are homeschooling or considering it (skimmed, sorry) but that won't work for us unfortunately. I do have a joint custody situation in NY that needs to be dealt with (just between me & the X, as we won't be going back to court). So this is a scouting trip, but a very serious one!

Hello ombra*luna,

I was so excited to see you have an 8yo son, I do too! We homeschool though, but perhaps our paths will cross at some point.

Brian at Backfire Chiropractic is great. (520) 887-6684 I may be starting massage school soon, so ask me again in about a year.

My son attended Highland Free School for a couple months. Obviously since we homeschool now it didn't meet all our needs but if he HAD to go somewhere, I'd look into it again. It's a small charter school with a great little campus. Miles is probably the only big public school I'd look into.

Good luck with the rest of your long trip, and welcome home!
