6/17 Update - Page 2

I've had stretch and sweeps w/ both prev. pgs (I think I even incl this as part of today's update? totally cannot remember what day that was...holy moly, I'm losing it)

W/ DS1 the MW even had to move my cervix forward a bit to do it (ouch), but I was still in labour by 8 p.m. that evening. I was exactly 40 wks. W/ DS2 I was 39w5d and had one, was already 2 cm and 50%, contractions that night that were on/off for a day or two, then a v. quick L&D right on my due date. I'm thinking I will have one this time, too, but am also waiting to closer to 40 wks (I think my appt is 39w3d?). FWIW I also was using EPO orally starting at 36w, w/ full dose reached by 37w w/ an application vaginally at night.

HTH. It truly is a personal decision. As a PP said, it is an intervention of sorts, and so not w/o risks. What tipped me into it was a) an obsessive desire not to be overdue in the summer where I am...ugh. and b) that my pgs so far are rather normal, w/o sig. intervention anyway other than this.

Thanks so much for all the great advice ladies. I think that I'll allow her to try the sweep at my 40 week appointment, if I get that far.

One more question. I know that no one can ever really tell... but I'm 1 cm, 70% effaced, and -1 station. Do you think that's close? More importantly, does that sound 'ready enough' for a sweep?

Thanks again!

It's too hard to know... it being just #s. I've gone into full boar labor being 1cm (maaaaaybe 1.5cm) and about that otherwise. And I've stayed pg another week being 3cm and 80%... so like I said - that's really just hard to know. Sorry!!

VTnurse - like BF said, it's just numbers. I walked around 3 cm w/baby #1 for 2 wks. Vag exams can be totally misleading. There's not much point in them. I've only had one during birthing and I'll never do it again. The mw told me I was a 6 and, while she was encouraged, I thought "That's bullsh!t." I'll never do it again, lol.

So many mamas doing so well. That's great! ELV to those who are so close or are at their limit I'm glad you're in a peaceful place Phoenix.

I feel you H.A.M. My ds is turning 10 this summer and while he's not big on lying, we have other issues. He's completely argumentative about EVERYTHING!! He told me today at the pool (when I'd rather been at home) if I loved him I should show it

BF - I wish I could go dessert eating w/you. Dessert is all that sounds good these days. Dh used to work at a restaurant w/the best dessert. It was a chocolate cake w/pink mousse between layers that had chipped up Red Hots in it. It was my favorite. It sounds kind of trashy, lol, but I swear it was great and very popular at this little fine dining restaurant.

As for my update, I'm just blah. I'm tired, I feel distracted, my ankles are swollen (never had this in 3 other pregnancies, I don't feel like eating, I could go on. My little helper babysitter is gone until next week so I kind of hope the baby comes before she gets back but I'm not expecting anything until after the weekend frankly. I'll be past 40 by then. That would be fine w/me. I'm not tired of being pregnant except for being tired and the heartburn. He's still posterior I think but when he spins I'm sure I feel ready.

Off to do some "work" - if I can get motivated.

VTNurse - yeah, the numbers don't really mean anything... I've walked around at 6cm for a solid week and I have a friend IRL who went from closed tight to babe in a matter of a few hours.

However, that can be a really hopeful thing... no matter what you're measuring, you might only be a couple hours from meeting your new darling!

elfinbaby, I've got a posterior one too and I'm also thinking I'll be after this weekend (and we are due the same time)... wish you could eat Tiramisu too... I'll save you a bite.

Well I started this thread and still haven't put my own update in it yet!

38w3d
I had my m/w appointment and DH was able to be there for a change. Noodles is still head down, but nothing else is going on. I did my belly cast today and it came out great. I'll have to post a pic once it finishes drying.

Anybody have people say annoying things to them lately? A woman at the comissary today said that I looked really big. : I told her no, I look great. Why do people say things like that?

Labor vibes to MamaJava!

I just called my friend (who is someone who might watch DD for me when I'm in labor, FWIW) about swimming tomorrow, and when I got her voicemail I hung up and decided to send her a quick email instead. Well, she totally called me back in a panic 5 mins later thinking I was in labor
Guess at almost 39 weeks I should leave messages when I call people

ETA:sending labor vibes to mamajava!!!

I'm 40 wks 2 days today. A few nights I've been uncomfortable, a little crampy, thinking things might pick up, but so far no dice. I'm doing okay, considering. The first part of pgs are so so much harder for me than the end. But ds came at 39+3, so I can definitely feel this one sinking low, low, lower by contrast. Good to hear others' experiences! I always opt out of the vag exams since they're so unreliable, and hearing your stories just confirms it -- no need to even try to guess. Come when you're ready, babe! Sending ELVs to those of you who are close!

I was feeling Labor-y tonight... and then the feeling let up and I feel normal now. Poo.

But I DID get my tiramisu (and I did leave a bite for you my due date friend elfinbaby). Plus, I got to eat the special desert with my dear friend... so that was a blast.

Labor-y feeling - come back!!!

I'm glad you got yummy dessert!!

I have a busy rest of this week, that means I should have a baby to throw off all my plans, right? right?
Tomorrow we're going swimming with some friends, thursday I have an AP park meetup in the morning and farmers market in the evening, Fri I have a MW apt and my SIL got us box seat tickets to see Sesame Street Live (she works for an insurance company that has a box at the arena, so when I saw the ad on TV I asked her and she was able to get it), and Sat my DH is taking DD to a NASCAR race. That will be the first whole day I've been apart from her, I don't even know what I'm going to do with myself! I might need to find someone to do something fun with me, maybe I'll get a pedicure, I've never had one!
I keep having a feeling I'll go into labor Sat just because DH and DD will be an hour away and my MW is is a bike race that day
But its not a real prediction, I could still have a long ways to go....
Right now I should really go to bed but I'm waiting for my DH to get off work and bring me a bag of ice cubes because we're out and I'm an addict.
