Doctor said bfing prevented being put in the hospital

My daughter has been having a fever of 104oF + for the last few days. She has also been pulling on her ears. She had only peed once in a 24 hour period.

So I took her to the ER ( It was late)

The doctor said she was dehydrated and had a double ear infection. We had given her Tylenol at home so her temp at went down somewhat by this time.

He asked if she was able to eat or drink anything. I said she had not eaten any solid foods in 3 days.He wanted to know what I was giving her then ( I think he though I was starving her) I told him she still nursed. He said that was excellent and that would provide her more than just liquids. It provided fats and proteins. It had immune boosters and the proper re- hydration for her.

He went on to say that if I had not been nursing her he would have had to admit her because she refused to drink anything. Would not take the popcycle, the pedilyte, the ice water .....nothing. She was content to nurse though.

I was very happy the doc was educated. Happy daughter did not have to stay.

So nice not to hear that P word. Seems like we're making progress.

(the P word is pedialyte, like the ER dr's have recommended to stop nursing and offer P instead, so many times previously in this forum.)

We had the same issue just a few weeks ago. DS has gastroenteritis lasting a week and would not eat/drink a thing but he WOULD nurse. I was/am so thankful that we are still nursing!
