"safest setting" for birth is in the hospital... where OB/GYNs get paid, of course.
Anything to get those greedy hospital more profits ($$$). Sound familiar???!!!

Reading the full AMA release-- they say the "best" place in terms of birthing centers are those within a hospital. So an off-site, non-hospital affiliated b/c isn't as good? Isn't that outrageous proof the AMA is in bed w/ the hospitals?

People in our generation were raised thinking birth was a medical procedure. Now that women are thinking for themselves, the status quo is in trouble. The AMA would have quite the fight on their hands should they choose to offer up a law against home births.

I don't think it's so much about actually OUTLAWING homebirths as it is about sanctioning the "safest place" thing and making people THINK that it is as good as against the law to have a homebirth. It doesn't seem like they are out to get the homebirthers who are thinking for themselves, as much as it is to just scare the rest of mainstream American into not even CONSIDERING homebirth... because doing so would be putting your child at RISK, yk?
