Nothing like "a little" medication

We went for our f/u with the allergist NP yesterday and she changed J's meds from Atarax to Zyrtec. Now keep in mind that my baby is 16 mths old and weighs 28 lbs. She wants him to take 1tsp in the morning, 1tsp at night along with 1 tsp of Atarax. I thought that was way too much but what do I know. So I checked with a friend of mine who is a pharmacist and her kids are on it too as well as asking a million questions to our pharmacist who filled the Rx.
They both agreed that (and it states this on Zyrtec's website too) not to exceed 1tsp total per day and no way to combine it with Atarax!
I am going to try the 1tsp daily and go from there.

Even one tsp. is alot. My DD is 3, 34 lbs, and her dose is 3/4 tsp. 1xday. It's a 24-hour drug.

Scary! I'm glad you looked into that before giving it to your lo.

Doctors don't know anything about drugs. They only study how the drug works, not the details. It's a good thing your pharmasist caught it!

SO thrilled to report that I gave him 1/2 tsp this morning and it has been one beautiful non scratchy day!!!
This may truly change our lives. I know that sounds silly, but it has been one tough time this past year
He even napped twice and he never naps.
