Help with swollen Tonsils?

I know this isn't about traditional foods but I haven't ventured to the other forums and I trust you all so much. My 5 y.o. DS has a sore throat, cough and pretty swollen tonsils. I made him gargle with salt water this am and besides that and some chicken stock, I've not thought of anything else. Will look into homeopathic stuff hopefully tomorrow but wondered if you all had any advice!? I refuse to call the doc because I'm pretty sure they'll either recommend meds and/or eventual removal. He has no other symptoms and we just don't call the doc for such small things. Anyway, I agree with WAP about not removing organs especially tonsils. And, I just don't remember anything about tonsilitis. I'm assuming it's like most infections that will run their course and go away!? So there you have it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm out of coconut oil and have been slacking on the smoothie making so his immune system is not what it usually is. Thanks in advance!

I don't know about this for little ones. It's not the most pleasant and you wouldn't want to swallow it.

I suffered from a lot of throat infections as a child and teen. About that time I discovered gargling with peroxide worked wonders for me. Now I do whenever I feel the slightest irritation and am able to ward off most things.

I had huge tonsils my whole life until I went gluten and dairy free. Now they've shrunk to a normal size. It's possible a food allergy could be involved.
