ugh - contractions all night and then nothing!

I had some blood-tinged mucous in the middle of the night and was contracting pretty regularly (they were even radiating to my back) for about an hour. It was the middle of the night so I decided to go back to bed and get some rest, sure that it was going to turn into labor. Blech...nothing! They totally petered out. I am having some irregular contractions today, feeling them into my cervix. I sent dh to work and dd and I are heading out to Trader Joe's to do some stocking up in case this happens soon.

I want to meet my son already!!!! Dd's labor happened so fast that I am sure I will now have a puttering one just to teach me patience.

oh, mama! sending baby out and ELV to you, hoping it's soon for your sake!

FWIW (prob. not much) my 2nd labour was a long prodrome, but boy when things got moving I had that baby in no time! Hope it goes smoothly.

Me, exactly! I had quite a bit of bloody show yesterday and some this morning. I was trying to watch the clock at my contractions in the wee hours and got up this morning ready to shower and get going, but nothing. pffft!

Well, good luck, Jacqueline. I hope today works out of at least one of us! ELV!

That happened to me! I had contractions all night and then they more or less disappeared the next day. They returned with the evening, though, and I'llnever know for sure f it was the 'real thing' as I was given pitocin a little later that night. Anyway, all to say I know how you feel! I was psyched up and sure I was in labour. It was really disappointing when the contractions evaporated with morning light....

The Bradley book I rely on really preaches that "false labor" is actually real labor, just a slower kind where our bodies are brewing and working, and might be in liu of what other women might experience as super hard laboring!

hope this doens't sound preachy (don't intend it to be!), just an encouragement that your body IS actually doing something productive! good luck!

I believe that now after mine. But I know the waiting still sucks! Hang in there.

I definetely believe this. I had tons of bh ctx in multi-hour sessions with #2 for weeks. I think that is why when the real deal hit - it was over in under 3 hours.

I hope this happens again cause I've been having the same kind of drawn out bh ctx for hours almost every night. Last night some were even a bit stronger radiating down my legs and into my back but then they petered out and nothing this morning except a little more mucous plug in the panties.

Hi,

We took a Bradley class with our first, so no I don't think you sounded preachy at all. It doesn't mean that I am any less impatient though

I had another night of regular contractions and loose bms that petered out. I am trying to go through my fears and see if there is anything that I might be holding on to that might be blocking me from going into labor. Dd is insistent that the baby come on her birthday, which is Monday. Maybe she knows something that we don't?

I did that last time for about a week... and then when labor started for real we had a baby out in under 1.5 hours... don't get discouraged with it not continuing... so much work is being done!

This same thing is happening to me - I'm having painless BH that go on for hours, seem regular, then die out. I don't remember it happening the first time around, though I also had a short first labor. I was checked last night, though, and I'm already 3 cm and 50% effaced, so everyone must be right - it's doing something!
