Cleaning Crocs or Sandals

I love sandals, but they always start to get smelly. What are my options? It seems like sweat builds up in them and bacteria grows, ew! Are crocs easy to clean? They look like some really artificial plastic-like substance so maybe they just wipe clean?

I rinse my Crocs clean every few days. Then I put a little Armor All on them and they look good as new. They also never get stinky. I know they are not the prettiest shoes but I love them.

I used to clean our crocs with soap and water and an old toothbrush, but someone on MDC mentioned throwing them in the washing machine. I tried this and it works great--they come out super clean and it hasn't damaged them at all.

I usually get mine from Shoebuy.com

Sometimes Zappos and Endless also carry them..

For sandals I have had luck soaking them in a sinkful of mouthwash overnight. I have only tried this with sports sandals though - nothing dressier.

Well, mine just came out of the washer and it worked great. DS's are still a bit dirty.. but they were SOOO dirty before. There was one casuality.. one jibbitz didn't survive the process.. Cinderella was decapitated.. lol

My crocs have never smelled. I throw all of ours into the washer sometimes with a load of towels.

I throw mine in the washer and they come out nice and clean.

I got mine at Payless (not "real" crocs, but just as good IMO) two years ago and they're still going strong. They're not stiff like other knockoffs.

I think Crocs are designed to be anti-microbial and not to smell. Ours never have, and my son has stinky feet.

If you're close to an outlet mall, you might check there for a Crocs store. Ours has one, and we regularly find Crocs there for about $10. Our whole family wears them!

I usually just toss mine and my hubby's in the kitchen sink with hot soapy water and regular old dish soap. They wash up beautifully, and if I feel inspired I will wipe them down when dry with one of those sponge things that you use to shine up any-colored shoes. They look great!

Also, there is a slightly cheaper brand of 'crocs' that I like even better than the brand name ones because they are just slightly more narrow. They are called Holey Soles. You used to have to order them from Canada, but now JoAnn's, of all places, sells them. I plan to buy another pair there, using one of their very frequent 40% off coupons. There is also a brand called Waldies that was around before any of the others. I have seen these in sporting-type catalogues. I hear they are very good too. I have tried on some of the cheapie ones at Wal-Mart and Walgreens. I do NOT recommend them. They do not feel like Crocs or Holey Soles at all.

We LOVE our Crocs (husband) and Holey Soles (me.)

Have you ever washed the Holey Soles in the washer, do you think they would be ok?

I almost forgot. I got a brand of croc knockoffs at a discount store (Value City) called Veggies. They're made with no animal by-products and are just as soft and comfy as my Airwalk ones.
