I'm with all you women who have been contracting for days, only to have them peter out. I'm 40w+3days today. On Tuesday, I was 4cm/40% effaced. Lost the plug on Tuesday night (wow - I can only say if you're not sure if what you're looking at is the plug, then it probably isn't! Someone's description of lots of globby, brown snot was right on.) Wednesday and Thursday were full of bloody show, and steady but not increasing or intensifying contractions.
Today we called my folks to watch the kids and trekked the hour to the hospital, but I stopped contracting at all by the time we arrived. We toured the facility, but I didn't even have them bother to check me. Now that I'm home, contractions are coming back, and there's been more show.
I think I'm worried about the distance of the drive, about leaving my two little kids with my elderly parents, about not birthing before next Tuesday (when my VBAC will be put into question). With all this show, how much longer can it possibly be?

There's no doubt when you finally see it!
