Its good to see that they followed through. This was the first time the law needed to be enforced:

In the first citation of its kind, California's Labor Commission on Friday fined a Santa Clara-based company $4,000 for violating a state law that requires employers to reasonably accommodate employees who are breast-feeding.

The commission cited International Security Services Inc., a private security firm, after investigating a complaint by one of its employees.

It's good that this law has teeth, it's so annoying states that have feel good laws that don't do anything.

Great news! However this is not the first time the law needed to be enforced - just the first time it was enforced. I am still trying to get the back story but for some years after this law was passed the CA Dept of Labor had no mechanism for filing a complaint - despite the law giving them the power. I suspect we will see more more rulings now.

woohoo!!
I hope it prompts others that have dealt with similar discrimination to complain, too.
