What kind of oil to use on natural wood outdoor furniture...

DH bought the kids an outdoor picnic table, it's really cute but it's been in the house until we can oil it. I have no clue what kind of oil to use...want to use something that works well, protect it and is safe.

It said to oil it once per year.

What do you use?

Any type of vegetable oil should be ok. I use olive oil for all my wooden salad bowls and they are good to go. I'm not too sure about oiling it once a year if you are going the natural oil route--might need to do it more often.

I just rub a bunch on so that there is still some slickness to the surface. Leave it overnight so the wood can absorb as much as possible. In the morning, buff it with a cloth to get rid of the extra oil.
