Question about getting & loosing teeth

My 5.5 year old daughter has a few loose teeth. I noticed on the bottom the new teeth are already pushing through the gums behind the baby teeth, but the baby teeth are no where near close to falling out...they are just a little wiggley.

Her top teeth are both loose, one more than the other, but no new teeth are pushing through behind them, which seems more normal to me.

Is it normal for adult teeth to push through behind the baby teeth, and even before the baby teeth fall out?

We have had this discussion locally a few times. It does seem to be fairly common.

My oldest daughter experienced this and she has beautiful teeth now. Her teeth would be loose forever and not come out. The dentist even tried to help things along at one point and changed his mind.

She liked her 'shark teeth' as she called her multiple rows of teeth.

glad to know it's normal!

Not uncommon. And sometimes if the adult teeth are that close behind then the baby teeth can go from not loose to falling out within a day or two...at least that's the way it's happened for us so far.

DS has lost a lot of teeth. most of them fel out way before the new ones came in but at 13 the last 2 had adult behind them. DSD1 & DSD2 have not lost any teeth yet. i took DS to the orthodontist b/c his teeth are crooked and the doc said that both ways are normal and depend on the kid. it is also not uncommon for them to still lose baby teeth until they are 14.

This happened to dd and dentist pulled the 2 baby teeth b/c perm tooth was through and baby tooth was not loose. The dentist said b/c we removed the baby teeth before perm teeth were completley in place they should shift into place, but a friend had to have major work done on her son b/c his baby teeth never came out and perm teeth came in. I would just talk to a dentist to be sure, b/c I don't know what makes it ok for some but not others

We just took our 6 year old in to the dentist for this exact thing. He said to give it six months and if the baby teeth don't come out he'd "help things along"

The adult teeth will move into place once the baby teeth fall out. We've had this happen with both loose - then - lost teeth so far in my almost-6-year-old. I was worried at first, too.
