Nora Catherine was born at 7:44 a.m. on Friday 6/20, weighing 7 lb 11 oz and measuring 20.5 inches. I ended up being induced after my 41 week appointment on Wednesday because my amniotic fluid was very low. I really wanted a medication-free birth, so I was really upset to end up with Cytotec and Pitocin, but I did manage to avoid the epidural and have as close to a natural birth as I could manage given the circumstances. It was a beautiful (and really challenging) experience, and I think the HypnoBabies helped immensely, especially for the first 24 hours or so. My doula and my husband were such wonderful support, and Nora came into the world surrounded by encouragement and love (and huge sighs of relief—it was after 2.5 hours of pushing, plus shoulder distocia!).
I'm not set up to upload pictures, so you'll just have to take my word for it when I tell you she's absolutely perfect in every way! Here's to more happy birth stories, even if they go nowhere near how they're planned. :-)
