Hi. I know it is possible to knit cables without a cable needle, but how do you do it? I just tried it out, but dropping the first 3 stitches off the needle, knitting the next 3, then putting the first 3 back on the left needle and knitting them. It was way faster than using a cable needle, but is it the best way?

You just have to be careful not to move around too much and totally drop the stitches.
