Nipples hurt again. Tongue tie question.

I thought the thrush was back (still could be that), but my nipples are hurting a different kind of pain this time. I can't explain it, but it wasn't like the thrush pain.
Can a baby be tongue tied "just a little bit", but still cause a LOT of pain.
At his 2 week appt, his ped said it was not enough to get clipped. The other day he was sucking on my finger during a short road trip. I noticed that he started out with his tongue over his gums, but then it ended up behind them. I thought maybe it's just because he was sucking my finger, and not my nipple. I would hate to have any procedure done to him that wasn't really necessary.....but I am still having a lot of pain during nursing.

If you're having pain, then something isn't right, and even a "small" tongue-tie (if there is such a thing) can cause problems. It doesn't matter what the tongue tie looks like, what matters is your baby's ability to nurse effectively without causing you pain. I would suggest talking to your doctor again, or talk to an LC. The sooner you have it clipped the better.

A LOT of doctors aren't familiar with anything but the anterior tongue tie, when posterior can affect nursing just as much. I wouold seriously seek a second opinion from someone much more familiar with tongue tie. Check the sticky for more resources.
