Is anyone else dealing with the IRS in regards to late payment of taxes and getting their...

Let me try to explain what happened.

DH and I did our taxes this year in March. We saw that we owed about $2500. We didn't have the cash to pay that so we had to use credit card. So we made a payment on March 20th which we did through Turbo Tax. Then in May I got a notice from the IRS that our taxes were outstanding. I was confused because we had made a payment. So I followed up with the 3rd party we had used for the CC payment and its turns out for some reason they hadn't been able to process the payment but they never notified us! : So then I re-did the payment and got confirmation that it went through. This was on a Friday in May (I don't remember the exact date but I do have it written down). On Monday I get a letter from the IRS saying that they had used our stimulus money to off set our taxes. So I call the IRS and talk to a man there (who was very nice), he says that he sees the payment and that once the system realizes we have paid the taxes it will release our stimulus check within 2 weeks. Fine, I can deal with that. Well two weeks goes by and no stimulus check. So I call the IRS again and explain the situation. This person tells me what happened was that our payment and the stimulus check being applied to our account happened at the exact same time and froze the system. As a result our account was assigned to a special team that handles these things and they have to check everything out and manually release our stimulus check which he says they have 30 days to do. Apparently it was assigned on May 28th. So that would make June 26th the 30 day mark.

I am just wondering if anyone else is dealing with this situation. We really need that money and I am worried that it is not going to be here this week like it is supposed to. I am considering calling again today just to "check" on things. When I talked to the IRS last the agent said from what he could see everything was fine but since it had been assigned he could not release our money but that it was just a matter of someone typing a code into the computer to release it.

So any BTDT? Did you get your stimulus money in the 30 days?

Thanks.

Really, no one else?

Well I did call again today. Stimulus check has still not been released even though our account is perfect, no problems. Still waiting on the person it is assigned to, to release it.....

But they did give me one new piece of information, once they "release" the money, it takes 3-4 weeks to receive payment, even with direct deposit : Also, apparently the IRS hasn't caught up with today's technology and the information in their system doesn't automatically update so the woman I talked to isn't even sure if the information she is giving me is accurate....

Funny how when the IRS owes you money they take their sweet time...

Something similar happened to us...minus the freezing of the system part. There were issues with our dependants...something with the ss# of our kids. So it looked likewe owed the URS. Once that was cleared up we did get out stimmulus check ( about a month later...we just got it) but without the $600 we were allocated for the kids since they based the stimulus check on our original tax return and the kids did not "qualify" at that time.. We were told we cant do anything about that until next years taw return when we can claimed this money that was due to us....sigh!
