I think my title says it all. Either jackass DH threw it out, or somebody stole it right out of my house. And I don't know what to do. I tried calling the IRS helpline thingie that's on the letter they sent telling me how much my payment would be, and it's all automated and there's no option that fits me and no way to talk to a human.

How about trying to call the regular IRS #?
I'm guessing that they would have to cancel the check and reissue and you would probably be charged a fee for that. I saw wait it out a few more days and hunt for it!

Yeah, I'm looking. In the process I've found my lost keys, DD2's lost shoe, her lost shorts, and an internet bill DH swore he paid. I had the check put away on my desk with all my bills, though. It wasn't sitting out. DH "tidied" the papers for me two days ago when I was sick and now it's gone.

Thing is, yesterday, my neighbor's crazy girlfriend wandered into my house while I was napping to use the phone. She scared the crap out of me and I yelled at her and she left, but who knows what she got into before she left? It's never happened before, and you can bet your butt it never will again, but that's one of my theories about where the check is.

Oh man I'm so screwed. I NEEDED that money. Badly.

Oh man that is awful! I hope you find it or someone at the IRS who can issue you a new check.

Call the main IRS number. They're really quite helpful, despit the bad reputation. I'm sure they can cancel and reissue the check, although it will likely cost you a small fee.
