I'm working on making my son a playmat for his 3rd birthday. It is made out of canvas duck cloth and painted with acrylics, with seam binding sewn on the border. I have heard that it should be finished with some sort of varnish or polyurethane, but I'm not sure what to use or how to apply it. Anyone done this who can give me some tips?
