potty accidents

dd1 (7) has recently started having "accidents" involving "#2". there are a few things going on in our life currently that disrupt normalcy and cause stress, and im sure its related. regardless, im not a big fan.

i dont want her to be ashamed or anything of that nature, but i would like to find a way to.... discourage? it.

ive talked to her about it, an she says she doesnt feel when she needs to go, and said she thinks a chart/schedule would help her, so i encouraged her to try whatever may help.

any advice/suggestions?

No advice but

My almost 5 y/o who potty learned at 26 months has been having accidents of #1 lately. I am quite sure she is doing it to get attention though as she has severe middle child syndrome. I just tell her to please change her clothes and put her wet ones where they can be washed quickly.

If you're sure there's no medical issue, I'd probably treat it kind of like potty training a toddler - just less intensely. Maybe casually remind her every half hour or so to sit on the potty for a few minutes to see if she needs to go. You could try that for a few days. If it works, spread the time out until she can get on a schedule of going or figures out her body's cues again.

Geeze, I wish I could remeber what this is called.... but you can get so constipated that you lose the sensation to go, then it hardens up in there and the poo that is backed up will leak out around what is backed up.

I saw this somewhere on MDC and they had a link to a dr. sears article about it, I am still trying to find it.

If it is just stress, you can do bowel training by sitting on the pot at the same time of day for about 10 minutes, unless her bottom starts to hurt. If it doesn't resolve, try eliminating wheat and dairy for a week or 2. It's a common reaction - non allergic, more of an intolerance. My daughter couldn't feel it coming out either.
