I wish that were me-- unfortunately I am addicted to shows like this. It is horrifying and mesmerizing at the same time!

I don't even watch this show....but I've been enjoying this thread! Enjoying it so much, in fact, that I had a dream about the show last night! It was really wierd....I dreamt it was the end of the series and all the women decided to hook up with each other rather than take the roses from the guy. So, there he was all alone while the women coupled up and went off to live happily ever after.

Sounds like a great ending....

I can't pick 4 right now because he always shocks me.

But I did want to add that I read in US mag that his ex-girlfriend says he is an aspiring actor and doing this for a career boost. Interesting, huh?

Who guessed Kim? Not me. There is a school of thought that she is the sleeper. You know the one you never expect to come from behind and win it.

I really like Shannon to win now. I still think Trista has the most class, but she is so reserved she may miss him. I am the same way with people I don't know well. Shyness often gets mistaken for a lack of connection or snobbishness.

I can't even think of what to say about Amanda. Wonder woman and cowgirl outfits? Does this woman think she has ANYTHING to offer but sex? She seriously needs counseling. I hope it is just editing and that she is really trying to show she has more to offer.

I used to be a lot like this when I was younger. I thought sexual attraction was all that I had and tried to flaunt it. When I matured, I found it a real turn-off for a guy to talk about sex on the first date. When I met my husband, I also met another guy around the same time. This guy looked like Dean Cain but immediately wanted to talk about sex and what I would or wouldn't do. It was really offputting. On the contrast, my dh wanted to talk about my son, my family, my job, etc. He wanted to know me, not how I was going to get him off, kwim?

Kim, Trista, Amanda & Shannon

Well, Kim sure was a surprise. Must have that last minute kiss strategy that pulled her into the ring. I don't think that she'll last past next week though; the preview of Alex meeting her family did not look promising.
Trista. I think she'll get booted because she has too many walls; if she has to keep reassuring Alex that she's interested with her words, but pulling away in other ways, I think he'll get bored. She may push him too far away.
Amanda. I am surprised by this, but I think she'll be the winner. She is very comfortable with Alex, and he seems charmed by her. He has consistantly picked her first each time there is a cut. She seems as though she has a gentle heart, a good sense of fun. Although *I * would not roll around on the floor with millions watching, nor would I talk about my sexual escapades, she seems comfortable in doing so, without crossing the totally trashy line. Yes I agree that she is needy in certain ways that may spell trouble ahead, but I think she will be the chosen one in the end.
Shannon. Ugh. Alex set himself up for this one. She is a very high maintenence chick. Princess Shannon indeed. He will never be able to maintain the level of lofty romantic expectations she will require. I agree with Rhonda; I think she is looking for a ring, and she doesn't care who's giving it.
And let me just say: Poor Rhonda. She sure needed some hugs last night.
And Lara, could you be throwin' that Dean Cain look alike my way?

Ya, he was a cutie! Very sexy, but a little creepy, kwim?

I disagree about Amanda. I still think it is Shannon and Trista, neck and neck.

Does anyone else read Alex's diary on abc.com? It is interesting. Follow my link above.

I also read the message boards for there, hoping for a "I know her!" but there are too many messages.

That was an interesting show! My guesses were for Amanda, Trista, Shannon and Rhonda. Oops! Poor Rhonda. She was really into Alex.

Where did this Kim thing come from? The miracles of editing, eh? They didn't show Alex and Kim having more than a two words together (okay, plus some kissing) before the rose ceremony.

My vote is still for Shannon to win.

Whose family did you think Alex fit comfortably into? I thought Kim and Amanda were pull away winners tonight.
I thought Trista and Shannon each became spoiled brats.Trista still seems as if she is responding to everyone, her family included on a shallow level. I just don't think she can open up enough for Alex.
Shannon found it more important to play with her dog; Alex seemed annoyed when that happened. Then, when she would not "have a talk" with him; I just thought her behavior was very immature. : Hello, when you sign on for a voyeuristic show, when are the cameras *not* there?! I think her mother has some concerns about Shannon's motivation, too. "What things do you have in common? " Notice that Shannon got bitchy having to explain herself to her parents too. Seems to me that she does not like to be questioned. How will that fare in a lasting relationship?
I was surprised by his comments about feeling guilt about Amanda; when did he seem as though he felt guilty? Maybe Amanda's brother did his job by asking him all those tough questions. Amanda seems comfortable with him; notice the body language between her and Alex. She is already seeming wifely.
I was really surprised about Kim. I liked her tonight. She seemed fun and gentle spirited. I think he made a mistake, there.

Ok, here are my thoughts:

I loved Kim. I agree with you that he made a mistake. I thought he got on great with her and her family. I think now that she was just filler for him until he could concentrate on the other girls.

Shannon: I am not sure how much was editing with her being obsessed with the dog. It certainly came across as rude, but when I was watching I was pretty sure it was edited to seem worse. I also think that she is playing "girlfriend" too soon. I knew she was trying not to cry when she was mad at him. I wouldn't want to talk about sex in front of the cameras either, but he had a point in that it is a necessary discussion and there is no time away from the cameras. Dh still likes her to win and said he would pick her himself if it were him.

Amanda: I thought that family meeting was uncomfortable. Her mom and stepdad were really quiet. Her brothers grilled him to death. I think he feels guilty because he knows he isn't going to pick her. She is a prime date because she has made it clear that she wants to sleep with him, but she is not wife material. After seeing next week's previews, I definately think he is keeping her just to see how far he gets.

Trista: I don't think this girl likes him that much. She clearly said she wouldn't pick him out of a crowd. I think he has that nerd-turned-cute thing going on. He wants the "cheerleader" type who would've rejected him in high school. He feels more comfortable being rejected and I think that is why he keeps her. I still think she is cold as ice to him, but that seems to keep his interest, so he may end up picking her.

Shannon

Apparently I am not the only one who found Shannon's behavior on last nights episode off. Check out what the message boards are saying over at ABC about her. General opinion is that "she's got problems". I think the princess is on her way out. Maybe her dog will marry her!

I am such a geek for reality t.v. This thread is cracking me up...too funny...
Lara, I definitely agree with this statement,
"I think he has that nerd-turned-cute thing going on. He wants the "cheerleader" type who would've rejected him in high school."
Kim was that girl he could never get in high school. He said himself she was perfect looking. But once he had time alone with her, I knew it wouldn't last. She doesn't read...except for self-help books by Dr. Phil ??? What's up with that? And Alex's look when he saw her father's taxidermy..."wall of dead animals", whatever you call that horrid display, that was priceless.
I think from a socio-psycological standpoint this show is very interesting (the same justification I use for watching Survivor!)
I wonder if there could really be a connection for him with any of the girls after last nights episode?

Trista's family was nice but she seems way too distant from him and the fact that she said she wouldn't notice him in a crowd. Bad vibe!

Shannon definitely has alterior motives....she was certainly bitchy to her family...then to him in the limo. Wouldn't want to marry into that kind of tension....

Amanda...geez, not much there either.

I think he is stuck...he has three cute girls who he has nothing in common with. I REALLY REALLY hope one of the girls will dump him. That would be great!
I wonder if he ever decides that NONE of them are for him....if he will stop the "game".....or will he marry just to save face???

interesting.

My dh watched the whole thing. We were laughing. Fun way to spend an hour before bed letting your mind go numb....

ITA! I also forgot to add that I thought the tension between Shannon and her mom comes from the fact that they obviously don't trust her judgement. Hence all the "just looking for a ring" accusations from other girls.
Lara...what is "ITA"?
ALSO, what is the link to Alex's personal diary???
gotta check it out!
Gadzooks! There isn't really going to be an actual ceremony is there? I thought this elimination game was just to narrow down the possibilities and then Alex *may* ask someone to marry?
That would be a shame to marry someone he has nothing in common with just to save face.
Lara, what is ITA? I think Avery had more in common with him than Shannon woof woof. Just kidding.

ITA is I totally agree (I didn't take the time to type what I was agreeing to--too lazy).

http://abc.abcnews.go.com/primetime/...lor/diary.html
Here is the link to the diary.

It doesn't end in a ceremony. He said in an interview that I saw that he doesn't marry someone at the end. That doesn't mean he won't marry the person he chooses eventually.

I know I am really awful, but we love South Park here. Last week, they did a parody of the Bachelor. It was soooo funny. They were picking a new best friend. They did the roses and everything. Some of the kids even said the same things the girls did. The only thing they didn't parody was Rhonda's panic attack.

Rosie O'Donnell

News Alert!!!!
I think I heard that Alex will be on the Rosie show today with Carolyn Rhea.
Disclaimer: I heard this this morning, while the kids jumped on me. Morning is a time of dangerously low brain cell activity. Tune in to Rosie to see if Alex spills the beans.

I almost want to watch this show to see what you are all talking about! I never watch the reality shows, so didn't bother with this one.
