Hello! My name is Foster and dh is Styles. Im 27 & hes 28. We began the process of becoming foster parents slightly over one year ago & were a few months away from being certified when I decided that it was time for us to ttc #1. Became pg in Aug and certified in Oct. On vacancy list for one kiddo until Feb. Got no placements, big surprise (I dont think our cw was very concerned about calling us as I was pg.. whatev). Went no vacancy in Feb, had a daughter, quit my job, plan on going back on vacancy in Sept as we have an out-of-state vacation in Aug. Cw and his boss are not wanting us to have 2 in diapers, but Im going to push back against that as I would prefer to take in a baby or young toddler at this time. Dh and I also want to adopt from the foster care system at some point.

Would like to take older kids in when my kids are older. For safety reasons, if Im taking older kids, I want my bio & adopted kids to be the oldest in the household.

Looking forward to chatting w/ you all. I just quit my job as a daycare teacher today in order to be able to devote my time to raising our daughter and caring for foster kids. I have a BS in Applied Developmental Psychology which is a fancy way of saying child care and development. I have wanted to be a foster/adoptive parent since I can remember & Ive been so excited to be able to take steps to do this

I am surprised you were able to have vacancy. we have almost no vacancies here where i live. I am waiting for my home study for Adoption through our public agency and our adoption classes were same class as foster parent classes. so we knew the stats.

The reasons that I think we did not get any calls to take a child was 1) our agency did not want us to have 2 in diapers so they changed the ages we were willing to take from newborn-3 to 2-4. How often does one child, ages 2-4 come in to foster care? Probably not that often. and 2) I was pg, so I dont think our cw felt much urgency in calling us for a placement However, we do live in a major city, so I expect that when I have them put us back to newborn - 3, we will get a call.
