Update 6/25

39+4....... Well, its almost 2, so I thought I'd just start a new thread. These are getting so short - maybe we should switch to a weekly "who's still pregnant" format!

I've been having intense, irregular contractions for 4 hours. No show and they aren't getting longer, so I'm just not convinced. I can't sleep though, so I am up eating cereal and drinking a glass of wine. Hopefully things will pick up or go away...... this is night three of this (though its more intense tonight), and I am done!!!

If DP asks me one more time if I am in labor I am going to scream :

Had the strangest thing happen yesterday... For the first time in several weeks, we didn't have anything planned, so I spent most of the day indoors with the girls. I felt a bit odd, but just wrote it off as late pregnancy wonkiness. I could tell that my hands were pretty swollen as I was knitting and I had a dull headache that wouldn't go away... plus, I was CRAVING liquid like you wouldn't believe.

So, Dh gets home, takes one look at me and goes "Whoa, you're swollen!!" I hop up, look in the mirror, and realize he's right! I jump on the scale and I had gained 10 (a full ten!!) lbs since YESTERDAY!!! Ten lbs overnight?!?!?! Freaky, no?

So, we decided that the only thing I'd done differently is not to get outside, so we loaded the kids up and headed off to a great local park with walking trails. On the way, I called my doula and MW and they both had some suggestions for things to eat and check. We walked around the lake until I had worked up a good sweat and REALLY had to pee. You could literally see the swelling going down as we were walking! We picked up a watermelon on the way home.

So, I get home, pee, and weigh myself again... dropped almost 3 lbs just from walking around! So, I ate about half a watermelon and 6 hardboiled eggwhites for dinner and drank a lot more water. I've been up all night making bathroom runs, but I just weighed myself and I'm down another 5 lbs. I've gone through about three shirts tonight from being too sweaty, too. Ugh.

My BP was fine through all of this... a little high for me, but well in the normal range. Has anyone heard of anything like this before? Sudden, severe swelling not related to BP or a change in diet? So strange.

I have a MW appt. this morning and we'll see what they say... Wish me luck!

Belly rubs and labor vibes all around.... esp. to our super-due mamas! I'm so inspired by the amount of strength and acceptance of the natural process that the mamas in this DDC are showing! to all of you!

39wks + 5 (or 39wks + 2 depending on who's right about my EDD).

I'm up early again, but not because I didn't sleep. At least there's that. Yesterday was Saint-Jean Baptiste, the national Quebec holiday, and baby didn't show any signs of wanting to be born that day. Maybe she wants to be a Canada Day baby...No BH, very little movement, no show...nada. Today is the same. I feel some amount of pressure when I stand up and walk around, but unlike BlueMoonBean, walking around makes me very swollen. I start out the day mildly swollen in the extremities but by the end of the day, I can't recognize myself. Eventually, my feet swell up so much that I can't wear shoes anymore or it just hurts to stand...so it makes being active very challenging. I know I should be walking to get things going but...The outdoor municipal pool just opened a few days ago so I think I'll go swimming instead of trying to walk around.

For some reason, I've decided that until baby comes, I need to take care of our taxes and our horrible credit rating. My credit is probably R9 so it's not salvageable, but DH's credit might be something like R5 and could be improved. Also, we haven't filed last year's taxes both federal and provincial, so I need to get on that in order to get our child tax benefits. It's a change from the usual baby-stuff I've been doing.

I think labor is starting. Yesterday my hips were so sore an achy and I started having some light irregular contractions in the evening. I took a bath and went to bed around 11pm, then woke up at 3:30am with some contractions that are keeping me awake. I'm up for good now, even though they aren't bad yet I'm too excited to sleep lol. Plus I have about a billion things I need to get done!

Anyway I am 40+4 and I think today is the day.

I am hot, sweaty, have a headache, SUPER CRANKY, losing my plug, having contractions and waiting for my MW to call me back.

wow that's cool, we had the same due date and it looks like our babies will be here on the same day I wish I would start losing my plug...I guess that's not a must for labor though, I think last time I lost it part way through in the birth pool.

same ole' same ole' around here!
My throat was scratchy all night though, and my nose is acting funky too, I'm REALLY hoping its the smoke in the air from the local fires and not a cold sneaking up on me. I have my AC on but DH said it still brings the allergens inside, so who knows.
I'm tired but I'm not sure if I could sleep if I went back to bed.....maybe I should try anyways.
Today we're cleaning the house so my grandma doesn't complain when she visits (plus, you know, I'm giving birth here!), aside from that, not much else going on.

p.s. that IS freaky BlueMoonBean, I wonder why that would happen, did you eat something with a lot of sodium? That sometimes does that to me even not pregnant if its something like MSG (which is not healthy I know but some chinese food places still use it around here!)
I'm like HAM, I swell up to painful amounts when I try walking, heck, I swell up just setting foot outside
I'm glad it went down though, and I hope it stays that way!

Swimming yesterday was AWESOME!!! I can't believe it was the first time this year! I was absolutely giddy. I could move my bod in ways that I haven't been able to for months!

Had a totally relaxing day, and got to have another quiet dinner with dp while ds stayed with his friends down the road for dinner. Started getting some really good ctx around 8, the strongest ones so far. They lasted until about 10ish when I went to bed, and I don't remember having any more through the night. I'm a little crampy/cervical twingy this am though, so maybe it will pick up again. Last night, I wasn't convinced it was going to be labor, but it DID remind me of how intense ctx can get, and I KNOW those weren't even close to where they go! OHboy!! But it was exciting and I am welcoming more!!

I started having some contractions last night, they lasted off and on from 8 to 1 and then I finally gave up trying to sleep and of course they stopped! I didn't even bother telling DH, he'd just get excited. Today I'm feeling achy and having some really, really light contractions. I have sooo much pressure in my cervix, it's really painful to walk around/stand upright. I'm not swelling at all though. Baby is still moving really well. Last night she'd move a ton everytime a contraction stopped.

I'm getting ready to go to the store and buy some stuff to make cookies. I need to do something to take my mind off my impatience!

Woohoo! Hope the baby comes soon! I didn't lose my plug until I was 8 cm dilated - and I actually *never* had any bloody show. So it's not a requirement, but certainly a good sign

totally depressed today. My best friend with the same due date delivered her little girl yesterday. I am soooo tired of the regular contractions that seem to not want to progress into actual labor. It has been a week of this now and I am starting to doubt it is ever going to happen without induction. My daytime backup for dd care goes on vacation tomorrow so if this baby doesn't come out soon I am screwed for childcare.

I am starting to wonder if I will have to be induced, something totally foreign to me as dd's labor was so textbook. I am also starting to doubt my body, which bums me out. I am soooo tired of reading about how stress or anxiety can slow labor. How did people deliver during times of war and famine??? I have to stop reading and just try to focus on my last days with my dd all to myself.

This is just a pity me post, sorry!

Had a bad day yesterday emotionally but doing much better today. Tried dancing the baby out of me last night but today I might just sneeze it out with these allergies.

Still here at 39+5. I've been moody lately but my husband has been so good about putting up with me. The worst part right now is that I've developed a hemmorhoid. VERY uncomfortable. I'm getting a little anxious about puszhing with it in the way. Oh, and my cousin, with the same due date as me, had her baby yesterday. I'm trying desperately to be patient knowing that it could be days or weeks... Maybe he'll be here sooner rather than later - a girl can hope, right?

40 Weeks today.
I think the baby moved even lower if that's possible. I swear I can feel it in my labia when this baby blinks! I've had a lot of pressure and mucous (though not show) but not even a lot of BH. I had a lovely massage yesterday and she did a lot of pressure point work, but nada....... I'm trying not to get my hopes up and to be thankfull I'm still sleeping well and mostly feeling ok. We have an appt with the MW this afternoon and then I'm thinking of a walk to the library. I'm really feeling better when I walk but I'm getting scared of getting far from home as my last labour was only 2 hrs and we don't have a cellphone......

Part of me just wants to lie in a dark bedroom untill I go into labour, but I doubt that would help!

39+6 today. Thought for sure something would be happening. Just mild ctxns, more bloody show, but that's about it. I'm trying to stay upbeat for my ds, but it's so dang hot and I don't feel like doing anything. I'm hoping during his nap I can catch some z's too. I keep thinking how am I going to keep up with 2 when Dh is gone for most of the afternoon and night???

I had mild contractions all last eve, but they were so regular! like 12 of them almose exactly 20 min apart to the second..... this am nothing, then about 11 am after a walk w/ ds they started again, only now they are hurting. after a couple an hour apart, the last one was 17 min apart, hurt enough to stop typing. is this it?
