I've been knitting for a year!

Yay!

Wow, this year has flown by... I went to the LYS yesterday and the owner mentioned their annual tent sale, which is when I realized that I taught myself to knit right before their last tent sale!! Last year I bought two skeins... this year I think the number is going to be a little higher

So far I've learned all the basics, plus some lace, cables, knitting in the round and on DPNs, and other random things like kitchener stitch, picking up stitches, etc. When I look back at the first thing I knit last year, I have come a long way!!

My goals for the coming year are to try socks, and some fancier colour work I think this is the beginning of a looong relationship

Congratulations! My knitting anniversary is in August. And my goal is to learn colorwork- primarily to make monster butt longies....

You can already do DPNs and picking up stitches so you'll be set for socks. They really aren't that hard in the scheme of things.

Sock knitting is the best IMO

Yeah, I know I have the skills, just not the motivation I've really not felt like making socks once this past year, just hasn't been that appealing to me. I did sign up for a sock knitting class, simply so I could meet other knitters and because they were making baby socks, which would be cute for dd. But the class got cancelled due to lack of interest

But now I seem to be on a "preparing for winter" knitting kick, and I'm thinking some wool socks for the family might do nicely. I have to make our winter stuff now because come september it will be all christmas knitting until the new year! It feels kind of weird knitting winter hats when it's 40 degrees celsius outside though.
