OMG I am FREAKING out over here.

DH works for a major fresh juice company. He had a meeting at 4:30 am today where they played a DVD from the president of the company saying that they are downsizing due to rising fuel costs. He said that some people will be losing their jobs today. This DVD was viewed today by every location that the company has. My husbands was pulled off his route today and is waiting for some bigwigs to come talk to him and a few other people.
This DOES NOT look good.

I think he is getting Laid Off!!!!!!

CRAP...Seriously, where is our economy going if people are already losing there jobs as a direct result of the rising cost of fuel?????

I think that this situation (US Economy) is worse than I realized. And I knew it was bad.

OMG We had NO IDEA that it would happen THIS FAST!!!!!!!!!!

We are in SHOCK

I don't even know what to say, I'm so sorry. And how awful to have to just sit and wait.

Thanks everyone!!
We are still waiting for the Big Bosses from Seattle (we are in Portland)
They are delayed by several hours so we are just waiting and waiting.

I really can't believe this is happening. They already laid off some people in Seattle. The worst thing for our family is that we have really really really good health insurance...

I really appreciate the replies.

Everyone should start saving money now.

We really had NO IDEA that layoffs were coming this fast. The company is still growing, but the rising costs are forcing them to cut back anywhere that they can. We thought that we would have a little more warning than this.

I am just : right now

I'm sorry you are going through this. This economic turmoil has been coming for a while and I fear we'll see more and more posts of a similar nature. Do some serious looking around here at F&F because these gals here have some great advice. I hope that this is not the news you will receive though. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Update***********

Well He got Laid Off

Got fabulous recommendations and a good severance package. They (his bosses) had tears in their eyes and said they wanted to bring him back if at all possible.

Is it Okay to drink Vino this early if you husband just lost his job??

He has worked so hard for them for years.

On the upside he has been working 60 hour weeks for forever and the kids and I will be E STATIC to see more of Dad.

I was already on this board a lot but I suppose I will be here even more now.

Thank you so much for all of your kind words. I love this community

I'm so sorry mama. Yes, please have a glass of wine. I hope the reason that he was laid off is because there is an even better job for him out there. I'm glad he at least received a good severance package. I hope he's back to work soon.

I think it's totally ok to drink whatever you want, whenever you want it in this situation.

I noticed that you're in my area (I'm 30-40 min west of pdx) so I'll keep my eyes and ears open about jobs. Is he a driver? Is he interested in anything else?

Oh, I'm so sorry you're going through this. My dh has had the first early warning signs from his boss the other day as well that sales are down and I'm feeling a bit nervous about it all too since they said they'd reassess where things are at and staff numbers within the next 6mths.

Sorry. I think you can have a glass of wine after this news.
