Picked Mulberries, now what?

I found 3 mulberry trees in our yard and picked a bunch. DS loves to eat them. What can I do with all of them? If I freeze them, will DS still be able to eat them plain or will freezing break them down into a soggy mess?

I dunno. I have a few of them in the freezer. From what I read, you have to either freeze them or use them in the next couple of days because they don't keep very long in the fridge....I haven't used mine yet in anything.....

yeh, they don't keep long at all. I froze a big bag of them, but they'll just go into smoothies later so I wasn't concerned about them being mushy when they thaw. I made a big batch of mulberry ice cream with my (new to me, from freecycle!) ice cream maker. It came out AWESOME, if you'd liek the recipe I also made a batch of muffins subbing the mulberries instead of blueberries.

I would love the mulberry ice cream recipe.

I don't have access to a mulberry tree.

My my mom used to mix them with cherries for pie - the cherries gave the pie body (because mulberries do get mushy) and a bit of zip since they are sweet but don't have loads of their own flavor.

This might be a dumb questions, but do I need to pull the stems off? I just ate them when I was a kid, but I tried to pull the stems off for DS. It's really hard to do, so I just let him eat the stems

the stems are a PITA to get out - for the ice cream I did painstakingly pull the all out, but otherwise, we eat them.

Mulberries are my all time favorite berry, hands down. I was able to pick some a few months ago when it was mulberry season in my part of the country. Mmm!!

I have always just eaten the stems.

I want mulberry ice cream! I'll have to save recipe for next year, though

mulberries One of my best childhood memories.

Yep, I just always ate the stem. You can make jam too.

Serious yum! I've got a mulberry tree, but mine are just little green nubbins still.

freeze 'em and make pie, jam, whatever. No need to pull the stems, they taste fine.

I've got some frozen in the freezer, some in the fridge for DD to snack on, and I made fruit leather out of some of them.

I did take the stems out for the fruit leather, but not to freeze or eat straight. And DD eats them frozen straight out of the freezer, so, I don't know if they become soggy - they dont stick around too long
