No Poo: Just Water?

My goal is to use just water to wash my hair. I am currently using the bs a few days a week, just water sometimes, and then maybe an egg or something when my hair gets dry. I have had some ok hair days, but nothing spectactular. I end up back on the bs when I start to get greasy. When I use the bs, I lose quite a bit more hair in the shower. Using the bs just does not seem natural to me. Isn't the goal to eventually use just water when you start with bs? If you are using just water, how did you get to that point? Any tips?

Thanks!

Are you diluting your bs? Just asking because you said dry hair and breakage.
I'm going about a week (sometimes a little more, but it's soooo hot and humid right now) between bs-ing. I use less than a tablespoon in 2 cups of water at this point. Nothing else. Water in between.
I'd love to eventually just use water, too-- I just don't *know* if it will work for me.

I am using about a tablespoon bs in about a cup of water. Maybe I should increase the water and decrease the bs a little. I only had dry hair a little bit when I am pretty sure I used too much bs. My bigger battle is the greasiness I get which is why I use the bs.

Yeah, after about a week, my blonde hair turns almost grey at the scalp and is completely greasy... not like it was with shampoo, though. It's like a clumping (I know, completely gross!), where shampoo left it limp and stringy after 24 hours. I think it is pollen accumulating in my hair :
But on the positive side, when i first started no-poo, it would look like that after 3 days, now it's about 7 or 8! If i don't have to be anywhere on greasy hair days, I'll go without bs-ing. Don't know if that helps my hair or not, but I'm too nervous to just stop and see if it will correct itself... which is what a few hard-core no-pooers I've read about have done.

Little bit OT, but what did prehistoric man do? Use soaproot? Some other alkaline substance? Or did they have beautiful, luxurious natural hair? Ah, the things that keep me up at night

I read on a forum once that this lady had a friend who stopped using shampoo cold turkey and went straight to just water. She said her hair was an awful mess for about a month and then after that it was gorgeous! Shiny and silky after it had adjusted to no more chemicals.

I started BS this week to help ease me into the detox phase. So far my hair lasts about twice as long as it did when using shampoo before it got greasy. I had to wash every other day but now I do it every 4th day. I figure if I can get it stretched out to about 8 days like some people, eventually I'll just drop the BS altogether and maybe do a nice jojoba oil soak once a month to pamper myself .

diosa25,
You wouldn't happen to have a link to that thread would you?

I just started BS recently so I don't have a lot of experience here. I did wash with just water between two BS poos and it worked okay. But, like I said, I don't have enough experience (about two weeks' worth).
