Does anything help tame the weepies?

I'm crying a lot. I know it's normal, and I know that I'm happy and that life is good and I have no doubts about the love I feel for my baby, but everything seems to make me cry.

I took some rescue remedy today hoping it would help, but I'm not noticing much difference.

Has anyone found anything in particular that helped?

The only thing that works for me is my dehydrated placenta capsules...

Big hugs... I think some of that is normal, just don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it!!!

I use chocolate I know, I'm horrible, but it's working for me.

The second week postpartum, it is common for me to get bluesy. This time I ate part of my placenta in a smoothie right after birth and I haven't been too weepy. Other than that try to get lots of sleep. A nap every day if you can. It should go away by about the 2 week mark.

Have you tried any herb tinctures? I've never had a problem pp. However, this weekend I found myself becoming anxious about birthing and I started taking Motherwort. If there is an herbal soulmate for me it is Motherwort! Google it and see what you think. I feel more relaxed, more positive, and I'm sleeping so much better.

I get my herbs from www.texasmedicinals.com - it's local for me but you could look over her stuff and check out the main ingredients and see if there is something comparable in your hfs.

It is also normal to cry in the beginning. Having a baby is huge! Just try to check in with yourself esp. if it keeps up after a week or two.

Hugs

I had my doula encapsulate my placenta. They swear by it. I took one today and it is a totally pick me up. She was saying all the hormones from your pregnancy and adrenaline from labor are in there. She actually suggested that I take them if I feel weepy or anxious. Is there any way you can get a hold of someones? Is that weird? Maybe I can mail you a couple or maybe you can find them online. Is that weird too? HTH

I second Motherwort. I bought it before I delivered, forgot about it, and had an 18-hour crying jag a couple of days ago. A friend reminded me that I had it and it has been very helpful. Tastes terrible, but works.

I have an herbal Baby Blues tincture from Wishgarden Herbs that takes the edge off.

Floradix can help too, and certainly can't hurt after giving birth to restore your bod!

Thanks everybody!

Not able to do the placenta thing, but I will most definitely try to find some motherwort or similar. And chocolate!! Must have some of that.

I appreciate all of the suggestions.

High quality fish oil works wonders for me. Not the kind you get from a regular drugstore - the kind you can get at Whole Foods or someplace like that. HTH

Sleep. That's what works for me, mostly. Hugs, mama.
