I really didnt know where to put this , but im going to put it here b.c I either need a great bargin on a Surveillance camera or some advice on if this will work.
I have been having trouble with someone throwing crap at my house, like eggs, apples, food, who knows what eles. I cant seem to find what im looking for , for under $300. Im looking for a wireless camera for outside , that can go to my computer or a seperate place where it will automatically record.(besides a vcr b.c we dont have one and I really dont want to buy one.)

Has anyone ever had problems with vandels? should I just let it go, am I over reacting.

would something like this work? http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...00003+10039001
I guess you can also buy dummy cameras, maybe i can give the illusion that we are taping.

I just dont know what to do anymore, this happens at least 3 times a week.

I can't help you with the camera part, but no, I wouldn't let it go. I'd persue it as far as I could.

Have you reported it to the police already? My parent's house had been paintballed twice and while the police thought it was just kids pranking it, they offered to drive by.

Ugh, how awful for you.

I would worry that if the vandals saw you installing a camera outside your house, they'd just damage that too. If it's happening that often it is probably someone who lives nearby. I agree that you should talk to the police. It's not a violent crime but it's still a crime.

I just asked dh and he has been slobbering over one that is $300 here. He said to check this site out:

What if you were able to get a free VCR, like off of freecycle or craigslist? Maybe if you put out the word to friends and family, someone was already planning to get rid of one.

I don't know anything about security systems though. Good luck getting it all figured out.

A friend had been stalked by an ex-boyfriend, so she got all sorts of stuff to try and deter him. I think she got a motion detecting spotlight. (In addition to cameras, etc.)

DH says that newegg.com has the best prices on tech stuff.

Newegg is where we buy *everything* we can. ;-) They carry the best brands, have great service, and good prices.

But definitely talk to the police first. You should file a report EVERY TIME this happens. That way, when the perps are caught, they're facing lots of charges and it will get taken seriously.

Man I would feel so silly calling the police about eggs and stuff being thrown at my house. I have a feeling its the kids across the street. They are 11-14 and their parents let them being out until the early am hours.
I have started asking neighbors if they have had anything thrown in their yard and they say no. its just us. We are also the first on the street, that borders a busy street. sigh. how stupid. I told dh I want to sell. We where planning on buying a farm in the next 5 years , we just do it a bit sooner. I was so excited b.c this was our first house, and we really didnt think about the area, while its nice its not the best.

DH bought one at Home Depot a couple of years ago. I have no idea why he bought it because it's still in the package in my closet. However, it was 50 dollars and it connects to the TV.

ETA...it's little, you wouldn't be able to see it unless someone saw you install it.
