Toddler momma desperately needs advice on anemia in mother

Hey ladies!

I haven't been around much since I had to go back to work full time, my DS is 28 months old. There is a breastfeeding point to this story and I'd really appreciate it if you read it cause I need advice. I've gone through about $5000 worth of blood work in the last 6 months because I have horrible symptoms that indicated my thyroid condition was rearing its ugly head. the Dr. kept telling me my thyroid was fine so I asked her to help me figure out what is going on if it's not my thyroid. Her answer? Go to your GP, so I made an appointment for Friday, I jusy wanted to go in with some MDC info under my belt because I'm sure the first answer will be to wean.

I am always exhausted no matter how long I sleep, not working mother exhausted.....hurts behind the eyes...too tired to lift your arms and gett your butt off the couch after you put the baby to sleep. I was trying to train for a 10K and haven't been able to start because I can't breathe, I can't focus or remember things short term. (I signed onto MDC to post this thread and it took me 10 minutes to remember to post the thread. I have SCARY mood swing, no interest in sex and yet again, Iforget what the last thing I was going to write was.

So I guess we've finally come to my two questions: Does this sound like anemia to any of you?

Will weaning my doodle- bug help me through this? I can't continue to live like this. I just work and take care of Andrew and sleep and unfortunately if weaning would help we'd have to discuss that option
1) Does this seem like anemia to anyone else?
2) What effect does BF have on BF mothers that are anemic

Thanks for listening to my horrible rample....I'm in BAD shape.

Love,
Julie

It could be anemia, but it also could be that your thyroid condition is not being properly treated. Most docs only look at TSH and prescribe Synthroid. This often results in undertreatment. It can be very difficult to find the right doctor. I currently self-treat my hypothryroidism with Armour because of this.

I would recommend you check out http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ This website helped me a great deal. I think there is also a thyroid thread on the Health and Healing board that you may want to check out.

if it's anemia it means you are drastically anemic, like needing blood transfusions. I severely doubt that's the only cause of these symptoms. I have genetic anemia and I become iron deficient from time to time, and yet I've never felt this way. I'd get a second and, if necessary, third opinion about your thyroid.
