Had my son on Moday

Hello,

Just a quick update on how things are going.

So Monday I had a planned c-section due to the complications I have been having this pregnancy. They basically wanted the baby out as soon as possible due to issues they were seeing during the biophysical profiles and there just wasn't a way for me to do that and avoid a c-section.

On Tuesday he was taken to the NICU in a different hospital. He has a few issues. There is a concern with his heart, a couple small holes that might well close on their own as well as an issue with one of the valves that might resolve itself.

He is having some tummy problems from all the fluid basically a lot of crud is in his belly and they are draining it out and then they are going to see how it goes. He isn't being fed except through IV atm. I was able to nurse him some before he was transfered but that was it.

They got me an electric pump and pumping is going ok, I have about 10 oz so far for when they start letting him have food, which they are going to give through a line that is in his stomach atm.

There are some concerns about his kidneys but it looks like they will be ok.

They have said he might be here about a week or more, but they can't say for sure.

I am currently not very happy, I am all swollen and achy as expected. They gave me a couple of units of blood yesterday as I lost a lot during the surgery. They did say I won the fluid award for the hospital as they have never see so much.

Here are his stats

Baby's name is Ezra and he was born on Monday. He weighed 9 lbs and is 21 1/2 inches long.

He is the SWEETEST baby and I am just aching to take him home

I really feel for you and what's going on with your little guy. I know that it is SO hard having a baby in the NICU, especially when there are problems and they can be very scary. It's a very strange thing to suddenly not be able to care for your baby. I don't know what it's like to recover from a c-section, but I imagine that it must be very difficult on top of everything else that you are going through right now.

Please be good to yourself, eat the food you like, do the things that make you feel nourished and cared for, and know that, as wierd as it seems, you will not be given a challenge that you cannot handle.

Take care and keep us posted

Congrats on the arrival of your baby boy! Love the name Ezra

Hope you heal quickly! Getting lots of fluids always makes you feel terrible and swell up like crazy....hope that normalizes for you soon. Not sure what kind of impact that has on milk coming in/supply etc but sounds like you're off to a good start!

Hope your beautiful little one heals quickly too. It must be so scary to sit back and watch....keep us posted, we'll be here for you!

Hi to Ezra!

Congrats, can't wait to see pics and I LOVE his name. And nice job on the pumping, too - I've been pumping and freezing for the last 3 weeks prior to my induction and I haven't got anything like 10oz! Good boobie work there, mama
