What is your baby's name going to be? - Page 2

Still haven't narrowed down quite yet, but we will be going with either Carson or Cooper. The middle name will be Steven after my dad's middle name.

Yeah, that's a concern, but I'm actually not too worried about it. Although it seems very popular on MDC (I've been told it's the new "official eco-hippie" name, which I guess could describe us pretty well ), I doubt it will ever become too popular in our real life social circle. Actually, I'm concerned that most people we know will think it's too weird/different, so its increasing popularity actually makes me feel a little better about it. Another thing that comforts me--my own name peaked around the time I was born, and got as high as about #40 on the top names list, and I VERY rarely meet another one. Ivy is ranked around #300 now, so I doubt we'll ever meet many of them, and it will be more like a pleasant surprise than an annoyance. I know it's on the rise, but I don't see it becoming the next Emma/Ava/Olivia/Sophia/Lily. So take heart, Ivy's mom!

Thanks!

Luckily all my kids have really unique middle names so they can always divert to that if they are looking for something a little different.

I come from the Megan background which was never Kelly or Jennifer but there were at least a few others in each of my classes. I wanted to be me not "Megan W or Megan S?"

DH and I had an easy time with a boy's name... Daniel Edward V (since my hubby is a 4th, he figures it as a family heirloom and it should be handed down).

The girl's name was much more difficult... we had names that one or the other of us really liked, but couldn't come up with anything that we both really liked. Then we finally came up with one... Brianna Teresa Marie.

Happiness all around!

We don't know what we're having, so it will be Jack Matthew for a boy, (my husband is Matthew Jack, but goes by Jack) and Cameo Lynn for a girl (I'm Cameo Rose and Lynn is my sister's middle name).

Caleb Douglas

Caleb is a family and Douglas is DH's middle name.

Eleanor Ruby

I love Ivy, too, and thought about Eleanor Ivy for a loooong time.

We are currently considering:

Samantha
Olivia
Victoria (but will call her Tori)

There is still a slight chance that this babe could pop out a boy. The last ultrasound I had was at 20 weeks, and we were 80% sure it was a girl. I'm getting strong boy vibes, though.

If it is a boy, I really like:

Wyatt
Allen
Johnathon

We thought we were decided, but now I'm having second thoughts. Ugh, LOL.

For a girl, we had decided on Grace Annabelle, but now I'm really loving Ruby Grace and Maggie Grace.

For a boy, the ONLY name we can agree on is Ciaran/Kieran James. But I'm starting to get concerned that it's too girly. I really love River, Cort, and Charlie, but DH has nixed all three. Bad thing is I'm very convinced this is a boy.

No! You have to keep it quiet too (which is of course why I posted it on the world wide web). I'm protective of my kids' names. Any other time I see an Amara or Greyson I get slightly peeved. I know its weird but we though long and hard about our kids' names and I feel like I own them.

I do like your name choices though :

Boy will most likely be Rowan Basil Peter. Girl names we're still in heavy discussion-but the ones being tossed around are Wren, Alice, Ruby, Thea, Eleanor, Beatrice and Olive. We have a long car ride this weekend, so we'll probs narrow it down this weekend.

I hear you. I would be peeved too if someone stole my baby's name.

I think we're leaning toward Olivia with Grace as a middle name. In order to avoid making anyone in the family feel bad, we are refusing to do any namesakes. Baby will have an "original" name!

Is it weird that I don't want to say because I don't want it "out there" possibly gaining popularity ?

That's funny, Eleanor is another really strong contender for us. If she comes out and just doesn't "feel" like an Ivy for whatever reason, Eleanor is probably next in line. We're also still very vaguely considering Sylvia, Adele, Averil, Fiona, Juniper, Rosalind, Holly, and Laurel (in that order), but those are lower on the list because either DH or I aren't as thrilled with each of them.

I love your names, too. If this was a boy, he was either going to be Rowan or August, with Oliver in 3rd place.

Scarlett Colleen Rene

Jack Roger

Every male in his family has the middle name Roger.

If he is actually a she, she'll be Ella Rose. Ella for his grandma, Rose for my mom.

We're supposedly having a girl, so she will most likely be Evelyn Lucille. Evelyn was my second choice name. I'm afraid to say my first choice, in case it gets popular!! Lucille is my maternal grandma's name. I was pushing for Evelyn Louisa (dad's mom), but my mom guilted me into Lucille (her mom). We will call her Evie (Ee-vee).

If we are surprised with a boy, he will most likely be Ezra William, although I also like Henry (my top choice), Simon, and Desmond.

My husband essentially picked the first names.
