Poll to get to know everyone a bit better!

Now that we've got a few people in here maybe we can start learning more about each other! I thought I'd start a little poll:

Due date:

Birth plans (home, hospital, UC, etc):

Other kids and their ages:

Do you think you're having a boy or girl and will you find out prior to birth:

One interesting fact about you that most people don't know:
Yay! I'm really looking forward to getting to know everyone here!

Due date: Based on when I ovulated, March 2 (but based on LMP, March 4)

Birth plans (home, hospital, UC, etc): Birth center affiliated with a hospital. I've been reading a lot about water births (which are an option there) and am very intrigued! I'm keen on avoiding drugs and invasive procedures if possible.

Other kids and their ages: No human children, but I have 4 furbabies that I love with all of my being. They are 2, 2ish, 3ish, and 4ish. =)

Do you think you're having a boy or girl and will you find out prior to birth: For some reason, I find myself referring to it as a "he" or "him," but I think it might be because I've also been calling it Stewie (after Stewie Griffin) from the get-go, before I gave it much thought. I will probably find out prior to birth. I'm the type of person who looks up the winners on American Idol on Wikipedia because I can't wait until 9pm Pacific time to find out!

One interesting fact about you that most people don't know: Hmmm...I don't like chocolate. Except in the form of brownies. Most people find this hard to believe.
Due date: 3/6/9 (cool!)

Birth plans (home, hospital, UC, etc): Not sure yet... I'd really like a home birth but they are quasi-illegal in GA... we'll see

Other kids and their ages: n/a

Do you think you're having a boy or girl and will you find out prior to birth: Boy, but we won't find out

One interesting fact about you that most people don't know: We haven't taken a vacation since 2003 that wasn't for a wedding or family visit, but we've been to Hawaii, Alaska, Chicago, and and are headed to Reno and Key West this year! Our friends are everywhere, and they are all gettin' hitched!
Due date: March 1st for now (once I see a mw that may change a bit since they use a "wheel")

Birth plans (home, hospital, UC, etc): would love a home water birth, but am finding that to be a VERY difficult thing to get here in Malaysia. I don't know if I'm up for a UC, so worst case scenario would keep me at home as long as possible with doulas(s). but my "plan" for now is to research research research to find the people I need, to get the birth I want. (didn't get it last time-- far from it)

Other kids and their ages: Miles is 2.5 yrs

Do you think you're having a boy or girl and will you find out prior to birth: I have no idea, and won't guess like I did last time!-- but DH came home recently and said "it's going to be a boy". He was right last time-- I was suuuuure I was having a girl...and out came a boy! And DH had said it would be. We won't find outn this time either.

One interesting fact about you that most people don't know: I'm an "inactive" midwife-- finished my training, got pregnant, worked for a few more months and then I haven't really been back since I was 24 weeks preg with DS. Attended one birth as a doula for a friend in October, and it was totally magical to be at a birth again, but I confirmed that I am in no way ready for the schedule that attending births requires.
Due date: 3/6/09

Birth plans (home, hospital, UC, etc): Right now we are planning a homebirth, but that is subject to change. It is illegal here for a midwife to attend you if you've had a prior c-section. Combine that with the fact that my c-section was at 30 weeks and I may have a hard time finding a midwife to take me "under the table." If I see an OB, I won't be allowed to VBAC (VBAC ban here).

Other kids and their ages: Spencer, age 3

Do you think you're having a boy or girl and will you find out prior to birth: I think a boy. My dh's family cranks out the boys, so I think this one will stay with the trend. We will find out so I can knit all the woolies the baby needs. (And my aunt is a u/s tech, so she does them for free. )

One interesting fact about you that most people don't know: Um, huh. I love to bake. I make several cakes, cookies, batches of muffins, etc. each week (from scratch!). I really enjoy it and my dh loves it.

Due date: 3/4/09 (based on ovulation)

Birth plans (home, hospital, UC, etc): Home waterbirth

Other kids and their ages: Duke, 2 (my little furry munchkin)

Do you think you're having a boy or girl and will you find out prior to birth: I can't wait to find out - which we will do prior to birth

One interesting fact about you that most people don't know: I'm pregnant! (ok, you guys know that, but no one irl does yet!)

I'll answer my own poll I guess!

due date: 3/1/09

birth plans: not sure as we'll be moving to a different state before this one is born. I would like to do a homebirth but not sure if it's in the cards yet.

other kids: Alden is 2.5

I think I'm having a boy. I will find out so I can get sewing and knitting!

interesting fact: I've been to 12 different states in the past month

This is great! I love getting to know people!

Due date: Early March (technically 2/23-2/27 depending on which chart and how long of a cycle I might have had)...but we are telling people early March

Birth plans (home, hospital, UC, etc): Home waterbirth (going for our 2nd!)

Other kids and their ages: Simon is 18mo

Do you think you're having a boy or girl and will you find out prior to birth: I have a feeling this is a girl...I thought DS was a boy...so we'll see...we won't find out for 9 more months or so though

One interesting fact about you that most people don't know: I don't like teaching kids (a bit of background - I am a Pilates instructor and Dance teacher....and I don't like to teach kids....sounds mean...but really I much prefer teaching adults, pre-professional and professional students (15 and older)...I just don't have the patience to teach basics to little children....most people just assume I love to teach children...

My due date is March 3, 2008. I hope we are having a girl and we will probably find out. We have a 6 yo dd. I will definitely have a hospital setting because I already know that I will have to have a c section due to the cut from previous c section with dd.

Hi all!
I tested this morning and got a faint pink line!! I still haven't missed my period yet so I guess I feel a little doubtful until that actually happens (don't know why). I've just never tested BEFORE AF and got a positive so it's a little strange! I posted the picture though and everyone says it's a positive!!

Due date: Have no idea yet, haven't looked into it!

Birth plans (home, hospital, UC, etc): Birthing Center

Other kids and their ages: 15, 12, 2.5, & 10 months

Do you think you're having a boy or girl and will you find out prior to birth: I don't have any feeling either way. I don't think we'll find out this time.

One interesting fact about you that most people don't know: Hmm... I'm a pretty open book! Ummm... oh, my dh and I met in high school!
Due date: 2/27, will probably be late (was nearly 3 weeks late last time)

Birth plans (home, hospital, UC, etc): Birth center annex at hospital - want to VBAC

Other kids and their ages: DD is 16 months old.

Do you think you're having a boy or girl and will you find out prior to birth: I hope that it is a boy, I want to keep it a surprise, but DH will want to find out.

One interesting fact about you that most people don't know: Hmm... I'm a (slowly) recovering caffeine addict!
Due date - March 4th

Birth plans - Hospital birth with my midwife

Other kids and their ages: 8 year old stepdaughter

Do you think you're having a boy or girl and will you find out prior to birth: Thinking boy today, but it changes -- no we won't find out

One interesting fact about you that most people don't know: I am a disenchanted Montessori teacher
post #13 of 160
Due date: March 2nd (based on ovulation)

Birth plans (home, hospital, UC, etc): We are hoping for a birth center, but if that does not happen then we will do a hospital birth with midwife

Other kids and their ages: 1 boy age 3 (4 in Aug)

Do you think you're having a boy or girl and will you find out prior to birth: the chinese gender prediction calendar says girl, but its too early for me to get vibes yet. I don't think we will try to find out

One interesting fact about you that most people don't know: I have been a vegetarian for about the last 4 months or so (rarely ate meat before that though) and I kind thought I was pregnant when I had a huge bacon craving.
Due date: ?? HPT yesterday was positive so I guess early March.

Birth plans (home, hospital, UC, etc): Probably hospital like my last two but I would love to give birth at home or a birth center. My last two births were med-free.

Other kids and their ages: My son is 3 and daughter is 18 months.

Do you think you're having a boy or girl and will you find out prior to birth: Haven't decided whether we'll find out. If I had to guess, I'd guess boy.

One interesting fact about you that most people don't know: I'm pregnant! Ha, ha.
Due date: March 3rd (or Feb 28?????)

Birth plans (home, hospital, UC, etc):
We are planning a home water birth with the same midwife we used last time. (I had a home water birth last time and it was FANTASTIC)

Other kids and their ages:
We have 1 DD and she's 19 months

Do you think you're having a boy or girl and will you find out prior to birth: I don't know this time. We had sex 2 days before ovulation - so by charting it could be either. We tried to find out last time - but she didn't co-operate. And I had a hard time with that. So - this time I want to try to find out. But DH doesn't.

One interesting fact about you that most people don't know:
I'm pregnant - we haven't told people yet.
Kessed - I am in the same boat, prediction & ovulation-wise. Sex 2 days before (also the day after, but my CM had changed by then). I'm for no real reason thinking it's a boy, but not super strongly.
Due date: 3/4/09 (Based on LMP)

Birth plans (home, hospital, UC, etc): Most likely hospital as I've had a C-sec

Other kids and their ages: 2 girls, 9 and 3

Do you think you're having a boy or girl and will you find out prior to birth: girl, and I will probably find out

One interesting fact about you that most people don't know: When I grow up I want to be a writer.

I just had a faint + this morning! : My cycle is normally 32-33 days, and I'm day 32 today.
Great thread - looking forward to getting to know you all! Glad there are a lot of "veteran" moms here to help us newbies

Due date: 3/5/09 based on ovulation

Birth plans (home, hospital, UC, etc): Hospital because we don't have a lot of options. We live in the middle of nowhere in Wyoming. Right now I'm trying to find a dr or midwife that I'm comfortable with. I want NO drugs, certainly no c-section (WY has a 25% section rate!), no induction, no invasive testing, etc.

Other kids and their ages: none yet!!! We do have one spoiled dog and 2 horses.

Do you think you're having a boy or girl and will you find out prior to birth: Deep in my heart, I hope it's a girl (I will only admit that here) because I am the oldest girl in my family, and I come from a long line of oldest girls. But I will be THRILLED with either sex. We've decided that if we have to have an ultrasound, and the dr does know the sex, then we want to know too. Otherwise we don't mind not knowing.

One interesting fact about you that most people don't know: Hmmm... just an intro, I'm a chiropractor, love my horses & riding in my spare time, hiking, camping, geocaching, etc.
Due Date: March 1, 2009

Birthplans: Hospital birth with nurse midwife. I will deliver naturally with no meds.

Other kids/ages: Two dear sons, just turned 4 and 6 in June. One angel m/c Feb. 08 at 6 wks.

Gender?: I don't care as long as my baby is healthy. We have two sons, so a girl would be nice, as this will be our last baby. But I have tons of friends with three sons, and boys run in my husband's family, so we'll wait and see. We never find out at u/s and prefer to be surprised at birth.

Interesting fact: I do PR for an ice cream company. Dangerous profession. At least they don't give me free ice cream or I'd be in serious trouble!

Due date: March 1, 2009 (used http://transitionsdoula.com/pregnancy/ddcalc to calculate)

Birth plans (home, hospital, UC, etc): another UBAC

Other kids and their ages:DS1 will be 7 in August, DS2 will be 3 in July

Do you think you're having a boy or girl and will you find out prior to birth:Girl (might just be wishful thinking, though) & haven't decided about trying to find out

One interesting fact about you that most people don't know:I had a UBAC with ds2 and he was born facing my hip, rather than anterior or posterior, after the doctor who cut me told me I was too small to give birth at all

BTW, liberal_chick, VBAC bans are illegal. If you do in & say you refuse to have cesarean, they can't kick you out of the hospital or force you (although they'll sure threaten/try to manipulate you) without a court order. If you show up late enough in labour, they won't even have time for that, assuming they could find a judge to grant an order. http://ican-online.org/vbac/your-rig...-banned-vbac-q
