And she ain't happy! We swim a lot and the chlorine has turned her lovely blonde locks GREEN.

Isn't there a shampoo we can use to get rid of the green?

She's quite upset about this.

My husband got Suave 2in1 Swim & Sport shampoo!! It removes chlorine from the hair. and it helps, because my son is white blonde and whenever he swims his hair turns greenish and whenever we use that shampoo it removes all chlorine!

my girls aren't blonde, but I also use the Suave swimming shampoo on them to wash the chlorine out.

Mine did that what I was a kid too! I don't remember what I used to get it out but I do remember i was told to wet my hair before I got into the pool. They say that dry hair will absorb more water then wet hair so when you get in with dry hair, it absorbs more chlorine thus turning your hair green. I did this from then on and never got green hair again.

Typically we do this, but it got green anyway. Maybe we haven't been getting it completely wet.

This happened to me when I was in high school. I sat in a hot tub with a cute boy - for hours... and when I got out, my hair was green. After washing it three times with regular shampoo - and no success, we called a hair salon. They told us to soak my head in coffee. So we brewed a pot, let it cool, and put it in a bowl. I sat leaning over, with my hair in the bowl, for what seemed like forever. It did work though. So if your store is closed or doesn't have that shampoo, try coffee!

Coffee?? Huh. Who knew?

Ok!

Rumor has it that vinegar helps. Isn't coffee acidic? Maybe there's a link there.

Jason makes a really good shampoo for this. I think it's called Swimmers and Sports or something like that.

Nexxus has a really great swimmer's shampoo (Aloe Rid or something like that). We swim pretty much every day and my daughter is blond. Having seen a lot of green haired friends in the summers of my childhood, I make sure to wash with the Nexxus every time she swims.

Wetting the hair with tap water before swimming helps, too.

Oh, Aubrey Organics does, too!

Ok. I'll have to go w/ the Suave or something at the moment (budget), but good to remember the good stuff when we run out of it. I suspect we'll be using it quite a lot this summer.

Nope. But that's the hand I've been dealt, I guess.

The green hair is the least of my worries.

One the plus side, at least I don't have to deal with the issue that this mama is going through.

It's not the chlorine, it's the algicide, which probably has copper compounds.

An acid will take it out. We used tomato juice when it happened to me. I kneeled over the tub (with a large basin beneath my head) and mom poured TONS of tomato juice over my head into the basin. Then switched the basin she was pouring from with the full one and did it some more. Several pours.
