Who's got thrush?

We are using gentian violet on both kids. Oh the purple mouths. My nipples were starting to hurt (in a non-soreness kind of way) and DD's tongue is pretty gross looking.

Didn't someone say something about vinegar washes?

Yep, that was me. I think it was Dr. Sears's remedy. Use 1 T. vinegar to 1 C. water. Using a q-tip, brush the solution in baby's mouch before and after every feeding and over your nipple/breast before and after every feeding. It works like a charm!

Now, are you absolutely sure it's thrush? Do you have pain? A white tongue is normal for a baby (milk stain). So, unless it's spread to the gums and is bothering your nipples (itchy, red perhaps), it may not be thrush.

I will try the vinegar washes.

Oh yeah, it is on her gums. And her tongue is not just milk stain. It is a big thick film. I was sooo anal about things with DS. I think I was a little to loose about not washing etc with her. I think I need to wash between nurslings too because I bet she got it from DS.

I heard it was 1:1 of vinegar/water, but I also only used it on myself. It cleared up within a day or two. Amazing.
