Hmm..I wonder how Mamapenelope is....haven't heard from her the last few days.
Had a visit with my midwife this morning...I let her check me as I'd been
feeling more Braxton-Hicks contractions lately and the baby had
descended into the pelvis the way Dante did the week before he
arrived...so I was 80% effaced, not yet dialating but very thin and she
could feel the hard head of the baby right there. A similar report
to what my first midwife gave me the Friday before Dante was born....so, it could be next week if my labor is similar...no one knows for sure really.
My body feels ready to give birth, I'm really ready to get rid of all
this accumulating fluid. My ankles looked like tree trunks last night
and I don't think I could get dh's wedding band on my pinky
finger. I've got Hulk hands. My blood pressure continues to be low
though and no problems with other diagnostics so I think it's just the
heat (still hot and humid here), the pressure, and I'm just ready to go....

Oh, congratulations, Hikaru!!! My second isn't nursing like my first--she keeps going for 3-5 hours between feedings. It just seems so wrong! It will probably change soon, then I'll be wishing for these days to come back.

Morning mama's!
Congrat Hiraku! And congrats to anyone I might have missed.
Haven't seen anything from Ana - hope all is well.
So still having the prodromal labour off and on. Not keeping me awake (thankfully I'm cranky enough!) but enough already. I'm one of those "either do it or don't" people, none of this testing the water crap! So I find myself saying to my body - either go or not! Too bad it doesn't work that way!
Penelope - KWYM about the "did you have that baby yet" question. Please I still have two weeks to go. Someone said that to me and I had to bite my tounge not to say "Yes I did, this is simply bloat!" That would have gone over like a fart in church! At least work takes my mind off of things but of course since this is my first, everyone feels it necessary to give me advice. Umm thanks but please.
Off to the MW today - we'll see how things are going. My cold is still lingering, so is a bit of cough - wonderful. I put off my 3 hour GD test for a few weeks, then got sick for 2 weeks. Now with all the post nasal drip and congestion I don't have to spell out what happened when all the straight sugar hit my stomach. Ugh! Oh well - maybe I'll try again this Saturday (I'm so looking forward to that!).
Labour vibes to all of us left! Have a good day ladies!

Finally feeling a bit better today. I was soooooo sick. Went into the Dr and got meds. NONE of my usually home remedies were working and I didn't know what to take otherwise. The flu at 9 months sucks!!!
I was so short of breath I was not able to sleep for more than 20 min at a time. Got major cough syrup with codiene, slept all night last night, cough is finally productive and much less painful today and after the first big cough I could breathe so much better.
I am 38 weeks 6 days today. Today with DS I was hooked up to the pit and waiting for labor. Today with DD my water broke
Was curious to see if I would be consistant but I'd rather have a few more days to recover and then labor. Its looking like I will have my longest pregnancy yet.

weesej - glad your feeling better - I only had a cold and that sucked - can't imaging having the flu. Hope you're feeling even better soon!
Back from the MW - nothing new to report. He's still head down, feet to the right, butt and back to the left (my left) and in go position. Now if he would just go! Still having the prodromal labour so we'll see what happens. I'll probably go into labour tomorrow morning only becuase my mom is going out of town tomorrow until Friday night. She runs group trips for senior citizens (plans, arranges and escorts them) and tomorrow they are going to Atlantic City - 4 1/2 hours away. I said she'll hit the lobby of the hotel and there will be a message waiting for her. I hope not - this is her first grandchild and she's so excited. Oh well - we'll see what happens.
So anyone heard from Ana? Hopefully she has a babe in arms!

jen, that's terrible about being sick on top of everything else....I had a really bad cold at 37 weeks with ds, I remember it well. Back then I didn't have to do so much in a day though. I sure wouldn't want to get sick now with my crazy active 3 yr old to lumber after...anyway, hope it clears up fast.
Grandmasgirl, your post reminds me of what happened to me last time with my dad. He was on a business trip when my son was born, and was the last immediate-family member to meet Dante (at 5 days old). Now he does not travel much anymore but has an important meeting in Vegas a few days after my due date, for a week. I keep thinking I'll wind up going on the 27th, right after he boards the plane, and he'll miss the first week of his second grandchild's life again. It's not a big deal, we kind of laugh about it. But I know he'll be seriously bummed if that happens again.

Glad to see this thread continue on for us late October moms! I have been reading but seldom can keep up or post. Used to be this thread was so hopping there was no way I could keep up!
We have 9 days till the official due date. I'm trying not to hang on it to much but my last two came on their dates. Kind of hard not to expect it again!
BTW, what really is the difference between prodromal labour and braxton hicks? The intensity? Frequency?
Due October 26th with #3

Good defenition of prodromal labor mamapenelope. Prodromal labor could also be called early or false labor, but I hate the term flase, and if you consider it all "early" labor you would have been in labor for days and days. Prodromal labor can stop and start, be regular contraction, lose plug have bloody show, etc. However contractions never get longer AND stronger AND closer together.
I am 39 weeks 1 day here. I have never been this pregnant before, both of my other pregnancies I was holding a 1 day old baby
Having been so sick I feel incredibly patient, don't mind waiting another few days to recover and truly feel good.

For me there is a big difference between my BH contractions and the 3 days of prodromal labor I went thru before delivering my last child...I call the BH's "love hugs" because they just feel like that, a breathless hug, very nice actually....the surges of the baby's head against my cervix are somewhat less nice but just an "owie" kind of pain.
The contractions I got once I lost my plug with ds, though, were so different, they astonished me...a pain starting in the center of my back and wrapping around to the front, like a bright circle of pain, then it faded after 30--45 seconds...I remember them so well and have been waiting for them to return with this baby...that's how I will know I'm close!
Sure did not like doing those contractions by the 3rd day of them...hoping not to take so long with this one. But they were still beautiful and wondrous, even with the pain...I never felt afraid of them ( I just wished for them to quit long enough to sleep at night...they really came on strong then.)

Morning mamas!
Hiraku - loved the description of your family. I too love when everyone else is asleep in the house and the only noise is the faint (or not so faint!) snoring.
Penelope - you ctx pattern sound similar to mine (there's one now) but more so last Saturday. I had them every 3 minutes like clockwork then they'd stop, then come back. I'm hoping yours really take off and you have a new baby this weekend (me too!!!) BTW - your pictures were great - you look fabulous.
KWYM about hearing something positive about how we look at the end of pregnancy. I got a little ego boost at Home Depot last night. The woman at the paint counter says to me "So you have what, about two months to go". NOPE - 1 week!. Her reply was "Girl, you gotta be the best looking 9 month pregnant woman I've ever seen". Ok lie to me some more but that compliment felt good! Especially since this week my energy level has gone in the toiled and I'm just feeling ugh. KWIM? So to all you mamas - you look mah-velous!!!!! Though I'd pass along the compliment! Personally I think every pregnant woman looks great!
Well that's it for me this morning. Love and labour vibes to everyone!

Hey to all you mama's left on our thread, and to those who check in from the "other" side...
I had a final chiro adjustment yesterday morning...didn't think the baby could settle any lower but I feel like it's in my butt...This morning I kept getting up thinking I really needed to go to the bathroom, but nothing much came out.
We had plugged in the cable last night so we set our early-rising ds in front of Disney Channel for a rare treat and dh and I did our part for the labor effort...LOL...then he left me to sleep till 11. I know I was having a lot of tightening off and on while I dozed and woke up with pains in my back that come and go now....not sure what to think of them.
I'm sitting on the birth ball because it's comfy for my back but everytime I get up I feel like this baby's gonna FALL OUT....but it doesn't, imagine that. I will just go about my biz today (have some friends coming to visit, and need to shop for a new camcorder) and we'll see what if anything progresses.
