I will be flying in August with my then 16 month old. In lieu of the past couple of years of issues with breastfeeding mamas on planes, I emailed Delta airlines to check for their policy on it

I was pleased with their response that they "fully support a mother's right to breastfeed her baby onboard our aircraft." Just thought I would put a good thing out there. And, I am planning to print the email and bring it with me, just in case

i just had a great experience NIPing on 2 delta flights. i had 2 mo DD and a cat w/ me. on the 1st flight, DD woke up and wanted to nurse after we landed. she's a fast nurser but she wasn't quite done after everyone got off of the plane. a flight attendent came to see if i needed any help. she said that she didn't know when the next flight for that plane was, so we needed to get off but she would get some help. she and another attended carried our stuff and i carried dd. the flight attendent said, "don't worry about it. you can nurse her while we are walking. i've nursed while i'm answering the door and who knows were else."

I would really like a copy of that. To my knowledge Emily Gillette has never been told there was a written policy since her legal case. Remember Delta continues to fight being held liable in the Gillette case and she has received nothing from them. I have also worked with a woman more recently who had a Delta flight attendant break open the bathroom door while she was pumping (and screaming for him to stop). The airline offered her a tiny flight voucher. If there is a written breastfeeding policy at Delta that all flight attendants are made aware of, Delta is keeping that a secret from the people suing them. :

I spoke to Emily Gillette after my mall incident took place and they had been found guilty, I'm not sure about an apology (I highly doubt she got one), but they refuse to meet her request. All she wants is for them to put a policy about breastfeeding in their handbook and they won't.

I don't remember which airline we flew with when my DD was 6 weeks but I sat there and talked to the flight attendant the whole time I nursed. They had no problem she actually was encouraging! It's just the handful of people that you'll find that just don't accept it yet

No, I'm afraid you misunderstood her. Freedom/Mesa was found by the Commission to have discriminated. I believe the Commission will now be filing suit against Freedom/Mesa. Delta was let out of the case by the Commission because of a contract provision between Delta and Mesa. Gillette may be filing a private lawsuit against Delta but as of now there has been NO accountability for Delta in the Gillette case.

When DS2 was an infant, we flew Hooters Air (now out of business), I was nursing him when two "hooter's girls"--ok just a side note--I'm not a Hooters fan in general (a real feminist) but they had the best prices on tix to PA from FL---anyway, they came up to me (probably a combined age of 36) and talked to me then proceeded to put "I Love Hooters" stickers all over my nursing baby it was so appropriate!!! Overall, great experience

I didn't post the whole email because I don't think I am allowed to without the consent of the writer (right?), but he did say that they do not have a written policy on breastfeeding. I can PM you the whole text, though...

I have flewn with breastfeeding babies on 12 different planes and have never had any issues with any of the airlines. I do ask for a window seat for nursing though.
