kwilki8 come hither!

Ok so I'm just about done with the stupid increases (now that I've fixed my dumb math mistakes and am getting near the part where it says to knit in garter until the sleeve stitches almost meet under your arms.

First off....where am I placing the top part of the sweater at to get my measurement? In her pictures the front of the sweater comes down a bit and you can see her shirt under it. It looks like the back sits at the base of her neck. If I do that I end up with a rather high collar in the front. At least it seems that way right now. Where did you sit yours when it came time to figure it out?

Ok I know I had another question but it's currently to 2 am my time (well almost 2:30) and I can't remember what it was..... I'll be back with it I'm sure.

Come out, come out wherever you are!

Woohoo! I've never been paged before :.

I set mine with the center of the sleeve section on the top of my shoulder. I don't know if that's "right," but I figured that was probably how it would hang in the end. Mine comes up pretty high in front, too, and so do most of the ones I've seen on Ravelry. The pictures of just the sweater in the pattern look like mine, so the only thing I can think of is that when the sweater has more weight, the neckline might be pulled a tad bit lower. Or the designer just has really thin shoulders? I like it more than I thought I might, though.

Good to know! I was worried it was a gauge issue on my end (T look away!) since I didn't swatch. Is your first button hole up high too? Mine seems to really sit up there.

Swatch? What's a swatch?
Yes, I'm a bad knitter.

That first buttonhole did seem pretty high. But I just tried it on again now that I'm a couple of repeats past the sleeves and it seems to be settling a bit lower than I had originally thought.

What size are you doing? Once you split for the arms you actually try it on like a real top right? She says to try it on (before the arm splitting) and that just makes no sense to me...unless trying it on means wrapping it across my shoulders like a shawl or soemthing but I don't consider that trying it on.

I'm doing the large. I was a little puzzled by the try it on instruction, too, but I did just drape it over my shoulders to get an idea of the fit. Once your sleeves are off the needles, though, you can try it on. I've got it on a long circular needle, so I can actually see how it's fitting without having to put it on yarn.
