~7lbs, 19", nothing fits!

My first was 8lb, 4oz at birth and had no trouble fitting into 0-3 month size clothes starting day 1. This little one is swimming in everything. My mil even got her some newborn size which is supposed to fit 5-8lbs - the pants just fall off unless I put on a cloth dipe to hold them up. I can't really even use my cloth cause the kissaluvs 0 are too big and I don't really have any small enough covers. So she's living in those nightgown sack things with super small sposies. Anyone else have this issue?

Yes! DS was 7lb4oz when he was born. I laughed at the "Newborn" pants and sleepers that are SWIMMING on him! The only thing that fits is onesies. That's it! Glad I'm not the only one.

We did with DS. He wore preemie stuff for two weeks and then newborn stuff for a lonnnng time.

DD is 8lbs 14ozs right now and everything 0-3 is still too big. She is in NB stuff, and yeah, it says 5-8 lbs. AND she wears CDs. The KL 0s are still too bulky on her too. She is in preemie prefolds and preemie covers still. The covers say 4-6 pounds.

Um, not this time! Juniper's more than 11# and has already outgrown her NB clothes! We actually had to ask for larger dipes in the hospital!

But, my 3rd was only 19" and pants were the problem. I solved it by getting out my machine and sewing him a few pairs of tiny pants w/ short legs! Look for outfits w/ ribbing at the leg cuffs. They stay put a lot better.

All three of my children have worn preemie clothes for at least the first three weeks. My first, who was 6 lbs 6 oz at birth, is still very much on the small side. We still have to roll down the waistband on some of his pants, and belts are our friends.

If you don't mind them swimming in their clothes, it's not a big deal.. but I liked having a few outfits that fit them really well for when company came over and whatnot. Right now Fiona has two long sleeve one piece outfits and two short sleeve ones. She's finally fitting into some of the 0-3 well, but some of them are still huge. I've found that baby clothes really run the gamut as far as sizing goes.. I have one or two 6-9 month pieces that could probably fit her now, and several 0-3 month onesies that are insanely long and she won't be wearing until after Christmas, probably.

You could probably roll the waistband if length is a problem for pants. We've also used a few nicer-looking 0-3 shirts as dresses.

Even my daughter who was 9.1 at birth doesn't fit a lot of things... and all the newborn diapers I made are WAY too big on her STILL... hoping she grows into them soon, I hate using disposables!! Esp. with her newborn fluffies just sitting there looking sad.

The only one of my kids who FIT clothes from the start was my 9.12 son... so I think it's just the "way it goes" for a bit. I'm glad they grow into their clothes relatively quickly!

L is 2 weeks old and still not fitting into anything. He wears a kissaluvs size 0 with no cover and a t-sirt . he was 6#12 at birth not sure now.

not in your ddc but, my kids were 6-13 and 7-3. Preemie clothes fit them best for a few weeks.

yep mine is still swimming in her clothes and dipes....luckily it's been very warm so she doesn't have to wear much.

Me too. They are convenient but so gross and freaking expensive! I'm using them for now cause it doesnt seem worth it to invest in preemie size dipes. I don't know how people are happy to pay that much $$ for years of diapering just to avoid the extra laundry.
