Oversupply causing reflux?

My oldest two DD's had reflux, but I did not have oversupply with them, and their reflux was present from birth.

With my little one (she'll be a month old tomorrow) she was fine until oversupply kicked in at 3 weeks and now she has "reflux". She spits up a lot at night (mostly early morning after her 2nd or 3rd feed) but doesn't seem to be in pain. I hear her refluxing but it doesn't always come out. I'm trying to get my oversupply under control by block feeding 6 hours per side.

How long will it take to see an improvement and can oversupply be the only cause of reflux?

Absolutely, oversupply and oald are huge causes of reflux. A lot of DRs will treat the reflux w/out trying to find out why baby is refluxing. If 6hrs block feeding isn't doing it, you may need to go longer. Also, try to keep baby upright, if you have a strong letdown, maybe pull her off and letdown into a toerl and then let her latch on again. Burping often, sleeping at an angle (in a swing worked well for Evan), you can also use Mylanta Supreme if you need something to calm baby down w/ a rx too.

Same here. I started block feeding when my son was about 6 weeks. He was always fussy, gassy, gagging, chocking while nursing, spiting, arching back and waking up easily. I had oversupply and overactive let down. Now he's 12 weeks I have seen alot of improvment. I am still blockfeeding because I still have an overactive let down but it's not nearly as bad as when I started. He is alot happier. No more gagging, choking , spiting up or arching back.
Hang in there.

Thanks!

My older two had reflux but I didn't have oversupply with either of them, so this is new to me. How long after you start doing block feedings do you usually see an improvement? It's been several days now and I haven't seen any improvement at all! It's so frustrating! How will I know if I need to do even longer block feedings?
