hi biomama! i was really hoping for a bfp for you. Here's to joining the EDD April 2009 thread!

I just took a month off of clomid and am now back on it at 150mg. I will have an IUI around July 8th.

I really enjoyed taking a month off - I felt like I was in a good place. I am nervous about going back on Clomid but I'm trying to be as positive as I can.

I'm looking forward to seeing lots of BFPs!!:::

I'm in as long as my RE gives me the green light. I am having an HSG this month but we're unsure if he'll let me do an IUI as well.

My protocol is: 50 mg Clomid, 2 ultrasounds, 1 IUI, and a partridge in a pear tree.

My Story

Well, since I know nothing about TMI, I'll tell just about anything about myself to just about anyone. There are some limits, but not too many. I'll let you know if I reach them.

So, here goes.

I'm single without anyone in my life, or on the radar. I'm a technical writer for a large bank. Basically I translate "legalese" into plain language for those in the field. It is too exciting for words.

Well, I turn 38 next Wednesday (Happy Birthday to me!) and it kind of hit me that I will be turning 38. No really, 38. I feel like I'm still in my 20s. I can't be 38. But my mother confirmed it, and even if I can't remember that day, she does.

That lead me to wonder about kids. Well, I've been thinking about it for a couple of years now, and done some research, but haven't been serious about it at all. Mostly kept thinking that Prince Charming finally stopped to ask for directions. Well, that fell through. And here I am.

I've decided to become a single mother by choice (SMBC).

A couple of months ago, I talked to an RE my GYN had recommended. He was very nice, and had absolutely no problems working with a single woman. He's worked with a few, and knows all the paperwork. After talking with the RE, I went online and downloaded the sperm bank's catalog and started going through it. Which is very surreal BTW. Well I picked a donor, and will place the order on the first day of Aunt Flo.

I was actually going to start in June, but the dates were just not right (I would have been on vacation when the tests to check hormone levels need to happen). So, I put it off until July. I figured I've put it off for almost 38 years, one more month won't matter.

So here I am. Waiting for Aunt flo, who should make an appearance in about a week. then 12 days after that a series of u/s, tests, the IUI, and then the dreaded 2WW.

I'm really hoping that the first time is the charm. :

And sorry. My charting is done in a spreadsheet on my computer. I don't really use the online versions. But the one here at home is almost picture perfect. Felt ovulation on CD15. And it lined up very nicely with the OPK.

we are currently planning our first (unmedicated) iui around mid-late july (unless we get a pos before then, currently in 2ww). my head has been completely spinning with information and i'm still not sure we are doing the right thing (after 24+ mo. you would think we would know what was going on). :

Biomama - thanks for starting this thread. I'm guessing my IUI will be within the next 10 days but I'll confirm once I know. Let's guess 8th July This will be my 2nd IUI, but my first unmedicated one.

Hello Ladies,

I'm coming in from the June IUI's thread since I too will have my 5th IUI in probably a week and a half. I'm on CD8 and 5 days into injectables. Went to my RE for a check-up this morning and they found 9 follicles. I'm all for multiples but a liter is a little out of the question, i'm not a golden retriever for god's sake! They think not all 9 will mature completely and my lining is still very thin. My doctor assured me it's still early and by next week things should be more concrete and to not be too stressed about it. The medication is making me qeezy every morning which has been so much fun, and I have yet to manage to give myself the shot (not that my DH is complaining...haha). I had my first acu appointment on saturday. VERY WEIRD. I felt every needle go in but 5 mins in, I was laying there like a puddle. I have never been so relaxed.

biomama, i'm sorry to hear about your BFN but i'll cross my fingers and toes for you that July is your month. My DH and I think we'll only do one more IUI if this one doesn't work and probably go to IVF in September. My insurance covers everything except IVF so it's a tough decision to make.

it sounds like you are responding really well to the injectables! I know one of those will be a sticky bean! Is this your first time on injectables? If this cycle on 150mg Clomid doesn't work then I will be moving on to inj. What has your experience been like?

Also, I agree that at first acupuncture feels weird but now it is the place where I can relax the most. I am finding it very therapeutic. I'm glad I'm doing it because this high dose of Clomid is making me have some MOOD SWINGS, so hopefully TCM is helping with that.

I'll be doing my first (unmedicated) sometime in mid-July. I'm waiting for Aunt Flow any day now and then I'll keep you posted on what happens next. I'm 28 with one 5 yo child.

I have been hearing about the link between accupuncture and fertility a lot lately...I think I may need to look into that a bit more! My only problem is that it doesn't look like there is an accupuncturist within a 100 mile radius of us!

Anyway, just got word that I will be able to do the Clomid/IUI route paired with the HSG this month. WOO-HOO! I'll be starting 50 mg Clomid tonight and I'm scheduled for my HSG on Thursday. We'll be doing a follicular scan and bloodwork on Monday to make sure I don't overstimulate again.

That is fantastic!!! : GL for all your blood work and prep! And GL for your HSG, hope it goes well and is painfree.

GL Liamsmommy! Take 2 or 3 ibuprofen beforehand and the cramping won't be as bad. Also, bring a pad for afterwards!! I'm so glad you were able to schedule everything this month.

So far so good i guess. Yes this is my first cycle of injectables. Seems to be working great internally but this afternoon I broke out in a pretty nasty rash all over my arms and now it's spread to my neck and back. There's no way to know if this is directly caused by the type of injectable I'm on (bravelle) but I called my doctor today and he doesn't want to chance it so I've been given the same type of medication just a different brand to use tonight and see how it goes. I don't want to lose what has been brewing inside me for the past few days now so I'll try this tonight and load up on benedryl and hope I'm spot free by the morning.

I know you said you might have to go to injectibles next, please don't take this as the norm though, I've always been very sensitive. For example...I was going for allergy shots to combat my dreadful seasonal allergies...and I actually had an allergic reaction to the allergy medication. THAT'S my luck...haha.

kiki - i've been doing acu for about 8 mo now and love it, but you are right it was strange the first time. i plan on NEVER stopping... so many health issues have cleard up, it's amazing! i highly recommend it to anyone.

Hi Ladies,

I just wanted to let y'all know that I jumped a huge mental hurdle today...I gave myself a shot! I am feeling quite proud of myself right now!

Everytime I have needed a trigger shot I make sure to have a nurse give it to me because I have always been very afraid of needles. I decided I needed to learn so I can get my IUI 36 hours later instead of 24 hrs. later. Well, today I went in and the nurse showed me how to do it. Then I gave myself a practice shot using saline. It took a good 5 minutes to actually get up the nerve to give myself the shot. It didn't hurt at all!!!

Through all of this fertility stuff there isn't that much to get happy about but today I feel happy because I conquered my fear of needles. Okay, I'll stop going on about it now!

Congratulations!! You should be proud. It is a huge thing. I'm also not a fan of even looking at needles, so it's definitely something to be chuffed about!

yay snowbell! That's pretty impressive! I've always had the nurse do the shot for me too. If I have to do one at home, I'll have DH do it since he has actually done it before (he's a pediatrics resident).

Leah, we are completely synced this cycle! I started my clomid last night too, and I'm getting my HSG either Thursday or Monday! IUIs next week. I hope we both get good news in ~25 days!

snowbell that's so great! good job! Like you said, with this whole process it's good to be proud of the small victories! I'm currently doing an injectibles cycle and I have yet to be able to give myself the shot. Just preparing it scares the crap out of me. So you should def be happy with yourself today.

Yay Bio! We're the amazing Wondertwins! I just got my call from UCONN confirming my HSG appointment for Thursday...so I guess there's no backing out now. Eek! IUIs already next week? Holy cow...this is going fast! Glad to have you to compare notes.

Snowbell! Woo-hoo for self-injections! If this cycle doesn't work, I'm headed down that road in August as well.

kiki - how'd your rash? Could it just be a heat rash? I get those every so often. They are wicked.

So - I have found out that google is NOT my friend. A little background on me: I had a retained placenta when DS was born 3 years ago. My OB went in to manually remove it and I hemorrhaged like crazy. Like, I lost half of my blood volume in a matter of seconds. Not cool! Anyway, I googled "retained placenta and scar tissue" and I came upon Ashermans.org. I looked at all the symptoms and convinced myself that I had it. I spent the latter part of last night in hysterics (special thanks to Clomid.) Well, I called my RE in a panic this morning and he reassured me that I don't have Asherman's. I am so neurotic when I'm on Clomid. My poor DH.
