17 month old biting EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. Help!

Mamas, I'm at a total loss here. DD still nurses more times per day than I can count (and most of the night). The last week or two she bites me EVERY TIME. My problem is twofold:

1. Trying NOT to react. Trying NOT to physically respond. Today I pinched her and I even gave her cheek a slap (not hard but STILL) I think that any kind of physical punishment is beyond wrong, but the reason I'm reacting like this is because

2. She WILL NOT LET GO. Nothing works. Not smooshing her face, not using my finger to get between her teeth, not begging, crying, tugging her ear, NOTHING. The more I try to get her to let go, the harder she bites.

I have no intention to wean her in the next couple of years, so I need some suggestions. I am in a very sad place right now. Every time she wants to nurse, I cringe because I know it's coming.

Please help.

Why do you think she is biting? Do you think she is teething? IF so, try to treat the teething. Is she sick? I know my son has always bitten when his stomach hurt and it happens often with food intolerences. It really really sucks, especially the bites at night. I hope you can figure out the reason and then deal with that. Big hugs to you.

She is getting molars, but it's not the reason behind the biting. She's not having any food intolerances either. She is absolutely doing it at least in part for a reaction. That's why I'm trying not to react.

She doesn't do it at night AT ALL. She only does it during the day, awake and I assume when she's bored...but she comfort nurses constantly and if I try to redirect her when she's nursing she has a fit.

I'm just not sure what to do. I have to get her to stop biting.
