Purling Badly?

I was wondering if I am doing something wrong when I purl as my \/ all go something like|/ they cross rather then meeting at in the middle.

It does still make fabric yes, and it is nice even, but I would like it all to look the same if possible! Makes my short rows more noticeable too!

Thoughts?

Hey Kimmy!

Mine used to do this as well, and I figured out that if I wrapped my yarn around the needle the other way when purling it straightened things out. Does that make sense? So, when you wrap the yarn around the inserted needle, bring it between the two needles instead of all the way around the inserted needle. PM me if you want pics.

I did that too. Like the pp said It was all in my wrap. Try it the other way.

Could my knit row before it be causeing it as I do not knit the way she does going from behind the front of the work, I gor from the middle to the back of the stitch when I knit....

Your stitches are twisted if the bottom of the stitch is crossed instead of an open V. If you're definitely purling correctly, and you know you're kntting into the back of the stitch instead of the front, then you should start knitting correctly. That should solve the problem.

Yup. That's generally the fix for purling the wrong way round- so either go through the front leg of the stitch, or wrap the yarn the other way when you purl.

Ok, going to try knitting through the front leg and let you know what happens. LOL

It was my knit.... LOL

Thank you mamas! My old way was faster though.... LOL

Your new way will be faster, it'll just take some practice. I've been working on switching from English to continental for over a year, and I've only gotten up to my old speed recently.
