Musty wooden recorder??

I dug out my wooden recorder today to play. It's been down in the basement and has kind of a musty, mildewy smell.

Any idea of a way to get rid of the smell that is safe for the recorder? I thought of moistining a cloth with tea tree oil and then threading it through the recorder, do you think that would work??
