Backing a scarf?

So I just finished knitting this scarf, and I love the way it looks, but it's just a tad scratchy on the neck. feels fine on my hands, arms, etc, but scratchy around the neck. Any ideas on how to make a softer backing for it, either with different yarn or fabric maybe??

Try soaking it in a bunch of hair conditioner first--just the cheap stuff. Soak it overnight and then rinse and block. It can make a huge difference!

Gorgeous scarf, btw.

Good idea, don't know why I didn't think to try this first.

That is a beautiful scarf!

If the conditioner doesn't work, maybe you could line it with some silk? www.dharmatrading.com has inexpensive silk scarves you could use. I think it could be really beautiful, especially if it were dyed to match.

peace, beth
