How long til 1st PPAF? For those >24mos...

I have a 2yo ds who nurses 2x/day, morning and before bed. Still no sign of AF in sight. I know 24 mos is one of the longer waits, but I know some have waited longer. For those of you who waited longer than 24mos, how long was it? Was it after weaning completely? I'm wondering if I'm one of those ladies...and ds is not ready for me to wean him completely (nor am I).

Just curious what others have experienced...TIA!

Hi!
I justed wanted to let you know that your not alone in the slow return of AF. For me having always been regular pre baby it was quite a shock when 16 months pp and bf'ing i had yet to get af....anyway it's been a long road here and I'm fianlly getting some semblance of a regular af ... ds is now 2yrs old so it's been roughly 8 cycles, a bunch of tests (everything normal!) and a whole lot of frustration since I have completly weaned.
Yes, i was one of THOSE ladies and it sucks...lol!!!

ps my ds is named Noah too

Hi, mine came back 5 weeks after my ds was fully night weaned and he was nursing only 3 times in 24 hours. DS was 29 months old.

I also went through a bunch of useless tests and everything was normal.

Good luck

I got my 1st PPAF when DD started sleeping through the night at 35 mo old. I had been using vitex and seeing an acupuncturist prior to that but sleeping through the night is what did it for me. I was happy to finally see AF!

p.s.- I seem have very wacky/fragile hormones and looking back I believe my body knew when it was the right time for AF to come back.

My kids have all been wayy over 2 b4 quitting...they usually quit when my next pg changed my milk on their own...I think every postpartum is different...at least mine have been...I've had my periods come back @ 4 months and with my most recent baby I had it back at 20 months. It's hard to judge...Hope u see it soon if that's what u want! Lyn

I gave up waiting and smoked her out. I induced AF back when DD1 was 2.5y old. I didn't change anything as far as nursing went, she still nursed A LOT.

For me, when Af came back varied greatly from child to child. DD2 nursed far less then DD1, and AF returned when she was 18m old.

How is that accomplished? Do you have any resources?

My first PPAF was when DD was 28 months old. I didn't do anything to get it back.

I used vitex, also called chastetree berry. It is a slow acting herb, usually taking 2-3 months to work, but it helps regulate different parts of the cycle, and also can induce AF.

Thanks!

Hi! AF came back when ds was about 26 months old. I had worked on minimizing night nursing (down to 2 x a night) and he has unlimited access during the day.

One thing...I started taking Maca and that might have helped regulate some hormones.

Goin' Green, I am in your boat. I am 24 months PP and no AF. Although I think : I might have just ovulated for the first time a couple of days ago. I tried vitex a while ago, but nothing happened after months, so I stopped it. Recently I've been making smoothies with my DS and drinking them myself and now that I think about it, they may have helped (if I really did O that is). We put in fish oil and spinach, along with yogurt and fruit, but they say fish oil and greens can help with AF. I'll let you know if in 2 weeks I either get a BFP or AF, or perhaps nothing... It's very frustrating not know when AF might come back. Especially when I am ready for another child, but my body is apparently not ready yet.

With #1 ppaf didn't arrive until 23 mos. I began to cut out the night nursing gradually and 3 mos later AF showed up. But I didn't get pregnant until the month he weaned completely. With #2 ppaf didn't arrive until 26mos and again I got pregnant the month he was completely weaned.

Great birth control for me. It is frustrating when you are longing for another and your body isn't cooperating.

All my children are/will be 3 years apart because of how my body works. I actually really like that spacing.

Best wishes. May she show soon.

Thanks ladies! I'm actually wondering if based on some body signs I might have ovulated on July 3rd (I was out of town visiting family) so here's hoping! :
