JULY Meal Plans! - Page 2

I have to sit down and do mine for this week. I know that tomorrow we are having pork chops, beets, potatoes?, and possibly peas or lima beans. Both are a big favorite here.

Ours changed a bit last week so there might be some repeats this week.

8-bbq grilled chicken, grilled peppers and onions, pasta salad, roasted potatoes
9-steak, salad, rice
10-salmon, pasta, stir fried veggies
11-meatloaf, mashed potatoes, corn
12-pork stir fry

Yesterday we had fresh corn on cobb, and pasta tossed with olives, fresh tomatoes basil and parm

today is tomato soup and panini (turkey/swiss and pesto/mozz cheese/tomato)
tuesday the 8th I'm making about a hundred pierogi so whatever else will be very simple because that is a day job
wed 9th - a bunch of stir fried veggies and champagne/mushroom risotto w fresh peas
thursday 10th roasting a chicken over beer on the BBQ, probably the last of our fresh corn for now, roasted peppers/zucchini. Homemade marshmallows and chocolate outside because they are messy
friday 11th pizza and using leftover roasted veggies from night before, and the sauce is my homemade soup from earlier in the week.

I need to start doing this. The caveat is we have a CSA share that comes on Thursdays, so, I don't know until Thursdays what I have and what I'm making. And the second Thursday is our raw cheese share. So, that needs to be worked in, as well. We were on vacation until yesterday, so, it's odds and ends this week until Thursday (and we have no fresh greens right now):

Monday, Curried Lentils w/Yogurt and Brown Rice

Tuesday, Garlic Chicken Parts, Dressed Baked Beets, Sauteed Spinach

Wednesday, Leftover Chicken, Brown Rice, Frozen Veggie (Whatever I pull from the freezer - maybe some rainbow chard) - probably all together in a stir fry w/whatever odds and ends are around. If there isn't any leftover chicken (DD LOVES it), I'll do Boston Baked Lentils in its place.

Thursday, Homemade Mac and Cheese, Salad (whatever's in the CSA share).

Friday, Homemade Pizza (pretty standard here). I'll throw whatever is around on it, afa toppings. More Salad/Greens.

And that's as far as I'll get w/o knowing what's in the share this week.

Here is our plan for this week starting tomorrow: These are in no particular order really.... I will make what sounds good to us that day or what the schedule allows.

Mini turkey meatloaves (using the toaster oven), mashed potatoes, sweet peas, salad

Country ham and macaroni casserole, green beans, salad, rolls

Chicken cutlets sauteed with lemon and artichokes, garden risotto, more salad

Sloppy joes (made with ground turkey), baked fries, corn

Lemon fusili with broccoli, sauteed spinach, salad

Pizza night(probably Sat. since I have evening clinical)

leftovers or grilled cheese sandwiches, pasta salad and fruit

Tuesday: Ribs and Pasta Salad

Wednesday: Cheap steak and Potato salad

Thursday: Skillet Rice

d-chicken salad on wheat rolls, grape/kiwi salad, avocado and mandarin oranges, leftover couscous

l-tuna with shredded carrots and celery slices, zucchini and tomato bake
d-turkey meatballs, caprese salad with toasted pine nuts

l-onion quiche (using leftover couscous as crust), tofu and mushroom sautee
d-oven potatoes, shredded chicken, any leftover veggies

l-lentil salad, leftover quiche
d-polenta bake with broccoli and pancetta


l-potluck with friends
d-pasta, eggplant and garlic side dish

l-tuna cakes on bed of lettuce, chickpea salad with avocado, cucumbers with dill
d-mini spinach lasagnas, kidney beans with tarragon and red onion

Our plan last week was changed ,so we may eat those meals this week.

M- Mini turkey meatloaves, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans
T- Kielbasa and bowtie skillet, salad, steamed broccoli
W-Rotisserie Chicken (Publix or Costco), zucchini and herb couscous, sugar snap peas

I will come back and post the rest after my grocery run.

I'm not assigning days this week. We are really trying to use up the stuff in our freezer and pantry, so we aren't doing a whole lot of variety.
- Baked Chicken, Roasted Squash/Zucchini, Fresh Bread, Salad
- Spaghetti, Salad
- BBQ Chicken, Sweet Potatoes, Salad
- Chicken & Broccoli Stir Fry over Rice
- Breakfast for dinner
- Chicken & Corn Chowder with Sweet Potatoes
- Fajitas or Quesadillas
- Breakfast for dinner (Hashbrowns, Biscuits,
- Taco Pie
- Chicken Pasta Salad
- Salad with Grilled Chicken & Feta Cheese

I plan out seven meals every week, usually on Sundays, to use in whichever order sounds tasty. This week-

1. prosciutto and tomato sandwiches on fresh toasted baguettes.
2. mexican chicken and pico de gallo wraps (from half a whole chicken)
3. couscous tomato chicken (other half) salad, with a side of tzaki
4. pizza margarita
5. italian sausage roasted with green grapes and rosemary
6. sun dried tomato flavored hummus pitas for me and DD, spaghetti for DH
7. warmed salmon and white bean salad wraps

I am so glad to see that I am not the only one that does this. I try to assign a dinner for each day but sometimes feel like something different. This way it is a lot easier to shop and plan.:

Monday - tacos - beef for dh & mil, black beans for me, bibb lettuce, tomatoes, onion, bell peppers, fresh corn, sc & salsa! yum!
Tuesday - cold roasted chicken sandwiches with bibb lettuce, tomatoes, onion and fennel mayo, caramel apple chips and yoghurt
Wednesday - parmesan tilapia, rice pilaf made w/ chicken stock from roast leftovers, brussell sprout saute
Thursday - out
Friday - poached eggs on toast, roasted yukons & whole garlic, melon
Saturday - tbd, maybe out?
Sunday - leftovers

I try to plan 2 weeks worth of meals, it works better for our schedule and budget. Here is my plan for this week:

Mon: Ww pasta with tomato/basil sauce and ground turkey
Tues: Dh and I paly Softball so Mil feeds dd
Wed: Family dinner at dh grandparents
Thurs: Turkey meatloaf, couscous, and broccoli
Fri: Homade chicken quesadilla's
Sat: Pepper steak stir-fry
Sun: Turkey Sausage and pasta with tomato's and cheese

I can never plan more than a few days in a row. A 7 day meal plan would be pushing it. How do you gals do it? I try to do a full weeks worth of shopping in one day. There are 5 kids and 2 adults here.

Sun- 2 pre cooked roticery chickens(any left will be for lunches or quesadilla's later in the week)mashed taters,carrots,peas.

Mon-pasta and meatballs.

Tue-meatball subs,green salad. Dh working 24 hrs,kids choice.

weds-Orange chicken,jasmine rice,fresh green beans.

Thurs- chicken or steak,potatoes, some form of vegi.

Fri-Dh working,leftovers. most likely pasta. (I made way too much.)

I really think with meal planning you have to do what works for you, not necessarily what someone else does. I do 2 weeks at a time and try only shop once or twice during that two weeks. I've done a month at a time and a week at a time before and it just didn't really work for me. But with doing it this way, I can shop for the 2 weeks' groceries on my lunch break which takes so much less time than if I have my kids with me.

I'm doing things a bit different now though, shopping sales and really stocking up, then planning from what I've got in the house. That way I get great deals for a large amount of things and I can still pick up the other stuff we need like milk or whatever. Its cheaper in the long run than if I plan to make spaghetti so I buy one can of tomatoes (or two, I rarely buy just one of anything) and then have to buy 2 more next time for something else.

For starters, I'm only doing me and DF and little bits for the baby. For seconds... for me, if I don't have a particular meal assigned to the day I procrastinate. I don't start thinking about dinner til 4pm. And then it's too late to defrost anything, the baby is getting cranky so it's hard to chop veggies, etc.

It's easier for me to buy everything on Saturday, and then I can say, chop up the salad while DS is having a nap, run the rice cooker earlier in the day before it gets hot, and then I can wash it and not have it sitting around... (I'm really bad at after dinner dishes. The more work I can get done earlier in the day, the better for me!)

What I want to know is how all you ladies are making soups and casseroles? Is it not hot where you are? I can't cook in the heat, so we've been eating a lot of BBQ and salads. (pasta salad, potato, you name it I've made it.) I feel brave for trying a crockpot recipe this week!
