mom's who are sensitives, have extra perception/sensory, all that "woo-woo" stuff?? - Page 5

So, a serious question for you ladies on this thread. How have you been able to develop your empathic/sensitive abilities, if you have chosen to do so? Is this something you have found responds to "exercise" (or use) like a muscle, or do you not have that kind of control?

How have you used it in your life?

And, have you noticed that in certain times (depending on where you are emtionally, spiritually, or etc) your abilities are stronger or weaker? I ask because I have noticed this myself.

I love hearing about other folks experiences with this.

Also, enfpintj, I would bet the farm some one in your life was tuned to what you were experiencing in HS. From my perspective, even if I had not been so terrified myself of my empathic (for lack of a better word) experience in HS, knowing what to do with it - communicate, empart something, even if just compassion - ? - would have been so difficult to figure out. I still can't wrap my head around that one.

There are a lot of different ways to develop your abilities.

I have found that hanging out with other people who have abilities is a huge help. When I used to do readings in a new-age bookstore around other people with abilities, I had some amazing experiences. It's kind of like you magnify each other's abilities by being in the same room.

There are a lot of books that have various exercises you can do, and there is information online if you google phrases like 'developing psychic abiliites' or 'increasing intuition.'

For me, my abilities seem to lessen in times of great stress. The calmer and more peaceful things are, the easier it is for me to get into a meditative state and receive information.

yes, i taught myself by readings lots of books, and just diving in.

The first book I bought was, trust your vibes, by sonia choquette.

Now, am at this full time, and love that I am able to help others.

I am a SAHM and 'normal' too lol

I believe in the paranormal partly because I've experienced it and partly because science hasn't been able to explain everything away, but I don't believe most of the people saying they are psychic or are paranormal experts. Particularly when their insights are always so convenient kwim?

I hear you, and I have to add that your perception is only half correct.

I am not deaf, my clairaudience is not as strong as my other abilities. Some are.. I am working on that still to this day. It has been a slow process for me.
I do talk to the angels tho, and my guides, and yours...

But it is not like you and I would have a conversation.. Doesn't work that way for me.

I would be happy to answer any questions I can regarding exactly how it works and how I get my information.

It was so much easier to get accurate information quickly, and the feelings were so intense...I had my only clairaudient experiences ever while I was there, and the only readings I've ever done where I received names for people. I usually get feelings and situations, and I often will use the exact words that people have used in conversations when I do readings, but it was pretty cool to hear names and other really specific information. We all get different things, but I have always been in awe of people who could get names. Everything just flowed so easily and quickly when there were several of us around.

I have a friend who calls me sometimes and we do readings together just for fun, and things flow well when we concentrate our efforts that way, too. I also belong to a tarot group and we will notice that several of us will have a similar interpretation of a reading, or will pull the same card or cards when viewing a situation. The collective consciousness is an amazing thing.

The medical intuitive books I've read talk about ways to increase your intuitiveness.

I'm sure you're right. I felt very alone though, so it would have been nice to have someone see that.

Some other books that helped me feel less weird were the ones by Alison Dubois and Dean Radin. I especially like them because they are good rebuttals for people who say there is no scientific evidence for psychic ability. Wrong.

I figured that since lot of mom's around this site can relate to being criticized for things out of the "norm" it would be more appropriate here.

I've seen Tribe's for parents of children with other sensitivities but, even then it seems to be pretty vague... probably since most of the parents have to learn about it from reading books rather than experiencing it first hand.... which makes a HUGE difference in one's views and ideas.

So..... anyone fall into this category?

Curious.
I would love a tribe, but we always get told we belong in religion and spirituality. It sucks, because for most of my life I've caught most of my criticism and ostracism from religious people because of their fear of all things that have to do with divination. :

It's also ironic, because most of my friends who work as professional psychics or intuitives consider themselves either Christians, ministers or both.

I often know something is going to happen before it happens - mainly I know when I'm going to see someone before I see them or I they will come into my mind and then I'll run into them or they'll call. Happened just last week, I saw a young man that I hadn't seen in over 7 years! I drove past the place he used to work and bam! I passed him on the road, made a U-turn and went to talk to him. It was so strange.....

Anyway, I will say that all of my senses have heightened since giving birth, particularly my hearing! Dh says I am like an animal or something b/c I can hear EVERYTHING!

You are not alone!

I'm definitely stronger around other sensitives, I had never noticed that before. A friend of mine can see auras and when I'm with her, I can see them, too.

I forgot about that! I had a weird connection with one friend, and I always would bump into him when I would drive home for the holidays. He worked in 2 different cities in toll booths for several years, and I somehow always managed to go through his line every year.

On his wedding day I wasn't going to be able to go to the wedding but I was passing through town on my way to work and I just knew where to find him to drop off a gift. I pulled up to the bank right as he was arriving to get money for some last minute things he had to do before the wedding and for some reason he was surprised to see me.

A couple of years ago I was thinking about him one day and googled him and just happened to see his divorce information printed in the paper that day online. I don't think that stuff is available for very long so it must have been fairly current.

I have no idea what the deal is with our particular connection. The only reason we're even friends at all is through a mutual friend who neither of us even speaks to anymore due to perpetual drama.

I don't think I have ever shared this.

But I get visions where I see things in the future. In the vision I know smells and sounds. But what is strange is when they (visions) come true for me. I am sent into an outer body experience of de ja vu. But I kind of loose it, I can not keep my balance. My mind is literally spinning and seeing the experience from above.

To me it is almost like I have merged with another soul or part of myself. Or maybe they are passing thru or leaving me. It has happened enough that I know it is real.

I think this spiritual connection is from my birth. My Mother was very sick when she was pregnant with me and most everyone encouraged her to terminate her pregnancy. Her faith, love and the angels above surround me.

hey ladies... looking for a place to fit in? :

Check this out.

We can talk about some pretty woo hoo stuff, but it all about love and it's all about support. It's actually a Law of Attraction based forum, so if your interested check it out.

I attend a Christian Bible study of all things... I know, funny right.... being that I'm not Christian. It's a learning experience for me. Sure, I enjoy reading about religous history just as much as I would any other kind of history but, mostly it's an education in learning who I really am from the differences rather than the similarities. The similalarities help me to connect with the other ladies even though we don't share any of the finer details of belief. It does get hard at times. The ladies in the group would probably whip out their bibles and start praying if I blabbed that I see spirits manifest in front of me and now, more recently hear them randomly in the middle of the day. I had a "sighting" of something very out of the norm a few years ago and honestly, I've still only told 2 people... because I honestly fear the repercussion from those who site the Bible as saying it simply isn't possible.

And it does hurt to know that even some people I know and get on with fine would tell me demons are messing with me, or I'm not close enough to God, or that I'm just down right insane.

I don't personally know anyone IRL who expereinces the things I expereince, understand them, and few who accept them.

oh and off the subject but, my empathic nature is overwhelming strong and I'm currently unable to control it. It's bad... really bad.

So, if there were to be a tribe where would you put it?

very unique experience you have! are your visions usually big or small? and are the typically of negitive events or positive? I hear ya on the de ja vu... it always leaves me spinning too. I have dreams, odd, simple, mundane, and random on occasion then some months or years later have disorienting de ja vu when they begin to unfold IRL. I't salways something wacky or silly but, interesting none the less. Sounds like your's may be a bit more meaningful from the way you describe it!
