If i am having ctx 2-3min apart and lasting 45 sec is that labor? Any thoughts?

I think I just read something not too long ago with the rule of thumb being 3-1-1=
3 minutes apart
1 minute long
darn i can't remember what the other 1 is for! LOL
But I think with that partial theory, it would be time to go to hospital or call the midwife.
ELV if this is it for you!

sounds promising! depends how long they continue like that, I guess

The other 1 that Jenn is talking about is for 1 hour long at least.

I know that rule - I think the third "1" is: for at least one hour.

Good luck!

The last "1" is lasting for one hour. That means before you call doc/MW or go to hospital.

Good luck!

Thanks. Pregnancy brain strikes again! Makes sense, cuz you want to make sure the ctrx are continuing and not petering out.

Good luck mama!

That is just mean. To get you all worked up and then to stop!

Oh, well! Maybe next time.

Agreed, it's mean!

I find that when I come out of prodromal labor and into active labor often times the ctx are much further apart than they were during prodromal labor. For instance, my prodromal labor ctx get down to 2 mins apart lasting a minute+ each. But, when active labor kicks in, I'll actually get some 15 minute apart ctx that make those lil 2 min ctx seem like child's play. Active labor just feels much different... it's not always about the clock for those of us in prodromal labor land.

Hope your babe comes SOON for you!

Yeah, everyone is different.....all of my five labors I went to the hospital when my CX were 6-7 min. apart. They were a minute to a minute and a half long, though, and required all of my effort to get through them. If I would have waited until they were 3 mnutes apart, I might not have made it. ; )

I find that a crucial element to the 5-1-1 (or 3-1-1, or 4-1-1) rule is that you cannot walk, talk or smile through the contractions that are coming. Otherwise I'd have been calling my MW every night this week. LOL!
