May I join you mamas?

My main obsession right now is recycled sweater soakers.

Yes! Join! And Welcome!:

I've gone through the recycled sweater longies phase myself. And have a closet full of cut up sweaters waiting for the fall for round 2!

As to the tulle~ It came on 40 yd bolts, and I needed 2 different colors, so there ya go! I'm making one of those play canopies, and figure I'll probably make a few more in the future, too. I guess I could always sell them on ebay, considering what they charge on hearthsong, talk about holy cows!!

Hi everyone!

I just got back from Fire Island and am burnt to a crisp...sorry I haven't kept up here, I was too busy frying on the beach!

Just wanted to post my major thrifty find...I picked up 5 balls of Debbie Bliss Soho 100% wool for $5.00! I can't wait to felt this stuff!

I'm working on some needle felted fairies. I went to Earth Guild the other day and finally got myself a super tool for felting. YAY! I also discovered I can put pipe cleaners in my fairies to make them bendable.

I also got some dye for some playsilks, I wound up getting the kind the woman who worked at the store recommended for silk; lanaset dyes.

Im working on several screen print tees and a screen for half of the tees. They must be done this week! Im getting tired of seeing parts lying around.

Im also working on knitting a guitar for DS birthday. Its turning out wonderful! Im about 1/4 of the way done with that.

And I have a pair of pants cut, ready to sew. I think I want to make myself some new undies too. Its time to purge and get fresh cottons. Most of my undies have been around for about 8-10 years.

I finished knitting my first nest with 3 Robin's eggs. The yarn I used for the robin's eggs was wool yarn I dyed with Kool-Aid awhile back. Also I stuffed the eggs with bamboo fiber stuffing AND dried lavender (from Provence, France), so they are like lavender sachets!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this project! The 3 eggs symbolize my 3 children, held with tender loving care in the nest & cupped in my hands - check it out:

saganaga, that's LOVELY!

I've been tie-dyeing. I've got some custom work coming my way and I've been practicing on onesies with the colors and designs the custom work will require.

Other than that, nothing fun going on--dead car, stomach flu, and ex bothering the heck out of me.

Still baking a baby here. I have just been having crazy contractions and thus not really motivated to do..well..anything? We got our birth tub all set up and are busy assembling birth supplies and just resting to keep this baby in as long as possible since I am only 36 weeks and they want him to cook a little longer...so that involves no getting up or moving around, so I am stuck, bored out of my skull and it makes me soo tired I just don't want to do anything. Fortunately, DD is pretty self entertaining so that is good.

I know I have to finish up projects. I have a bunch of felt balls to make, but I can't stand up for extended periods of time so I am having difficulty getting myself situated, I will probably have hubby help me get started, maybe tomorrow, cause once I get them the size I want, I can needle felt in my chair, so at least that is one thing..lol..and I am almost done with the flash cards....I have too many projects going on!

And once I get labels, I will get working on the canning labels, I just need to get to Staples or something for those. And the notebook covers..eh..lol..we shall see!

Why am I so diversified?

Ok, tired now...and dealing with this accident is a big pain in my butt...I just want my van fixed!

Waaahhhhh(ok, end whine..lol)

Canning labels? Say more?

I love love LOVE the birds nest & eggs! And what a lovely idea with the lavender. I stuff my kids bean bags with a bit of lavender and they love that. We have a lavender festival coming up here in a week or so, I'll have to pick some up. Lavender lavender lavender. How many times can I say lavender in one post:

"I" have a desire to have my canned goods labeled so I am working on a design for jar tops for things like gifting. Something like this:
Can
Can 2
Can 3

And then some of the oval labels for the front.

And playing with the idea of making some vinyl labels that can be reused, but I am working out semantics on how that would work. Maybe attached to some fabric to lay over the top? Not quite sure yet!

That's really nice! Free pattern on the net, you don't have to buy the book or even check it out at the library.

Now I can't wait to see photos of finished nests from whoever makes one!
