We took Chaya to her first Renn Faire this weekend. We camped and went both Sat and Sun. I made Chaya a chemise () and ended up buying her a dress there. I can't wait till my sewing skills match my desire to sew well.
I'll post some pics soon... I gotta admit, we look pretty cute.
The best thing was - all the attention Dh and I got for wearing her. Day one was in a solarveil ring, day two was in an ellaroo wrap. A bazillion (not an overestimation) people commented on how great it was that we were carrying our babe, that Dh was carrying the babe, et cetera.

Okay so Lucy's biting has turned into a nursing strike...that I am afraid is starting to look like weaning. She wants nothing to do with the breast...she will not latch on and the minute she gets the nipple in her mouth she chomps... I have been pumping since Friday and I am getting a pitiful amount. I have never pumped well, but if that is all that she is getting then it is no wonder she is objecting.

Nobody IRL is being very supportive. I keep hearing..."well she is weaning...be glad...it is sooner then later." I am not glad....I am incredibly sad and feel like I am failing her. I will keep offering to nurse her...but I don't know how long my supply will survive with just pumping.

I am off to pump and pout.

Do you have the Baby Book by Dr. Sears? He talks about one of his first three kids (the pre AP kids) that went on a strike. He and his wife thought he was ready to wean, but in hind sight, they wished they had tried to keep it up. Anyway, I apologize if I'm late to this conversation. I hope you and Lucy find a way to work together, soon.

My dd had multiple nursing strikes. I swear she had a strike at least once a week that lasted a few days from the time she was 8 months until she was 12 months old and then they just stopped. I thought for sure she was going to wean at an early age--and she is 32 months and still nursing. I am so sorry you are going through this, and its even worse when no one IRL seems to understand. Don't give up. You might find that she is teething, or that you changed something in your life (deodorant, perfume, detergent, SOMEthing ) that she hasn't adjust to. I hope this is the case!

Waylon bit me tonight and I swiftly put him down on the floor. I was soooo mad. There is nothing worse, and you feel like they have taken away the trust in the nursing relationship, because everytime you latch them on after a bite you are tense with anticipation. Its tough!

Oh, and its been a week (I think) tonight since I posted my weight. I was 202.5--and tonight I'm 196.5!

You are all so sweet It's probably better off anyway, I'm going to be busy with lots of other things.

We had a good trip to Tucson today, Liam was up with me from 2am to 5am and slept most of the time in the car. I got my sling fabric but wasn't in the mood for sewing tonight so probably tomorrow. I've been working a lot on my website and getting my fabrics and prices in order. I never realized how much I have to organize.

I'm sorry to hear about all the babies and nursing strikes. I agree that you should hold out and keep trying. We went through a nursing strike around 4-5 months when my rapid let-down slowed, it was NOT fun. The best thing that worked for us was to nurse at night when I was relaxed and he was sleeping/sleepy and less likely to fight me. Eventually it resolved itself.

Ack... nothing like writing a post and discovering an hour later it's still in edit mode! Written after forestrymom's last post...

We've got biting here, too. It's definitely teething! Today, Judah bit me (when I wasn't paying attention, of course), eliciting a scream. I put him down then, and he started biting my knees, his brother's shirt/back, etc! Eventually I tried to nurse the sleepyhead, and he bit AGAIN! Ugh. It gets really frustrating. We finally found him a teether and that was okay, for a little bit... Eventually he fell asleep with DH. He's getting his top teeth on each side of the front ones. Can't remember their name now. He's not super-duper fussy (teething necklace, maybe?) but just constantly biting anything he can find!

SweetTexasgal, I am so sorry she's on a nursing strike. Definitely don't give up! I have no experience, myself, but I would bet you can find some good advice in the Breastfeeding Challenges forum. I'm so sorry no one locally is being supportive. We're all here for you!

forestrymom, wow! Congrats on the weight loss! That's awesome! I've been working out regularly (okay, not in the last week..) for 6 weeks and have lost.... NOTHING! I'm so bummed. But I'm so glad you're seeing results!!

SO CUTE!!! We took Lucy to her first faire on Saturday (Great Lakes Medieval Faire) but I didn't go in garb this year (my pre-pregnancy stuff is lightyears too small and my maternity garb made me look gigantic), so I didn't dress her up either. We had hoped to go to three different faires this year but since we need to make the trip to DC in October, we can't afford the other mini-vacations we had planned. Hopefully next year we can make it to some other ones though, and that gives me time to gather/make new garb for all of us!

Where are you? We live in WI and went to the Faire on the border of WI/IL
And uh.. yeah, my garb is all PrePg and I used to be able to get the sides of the bodice to touch.. not so much anymore. Hee hee.

Someone found Leo.....


Just beside myself so this will be short.

DD1 started crying when she saw the picture bc she's been talking about him almost non-stop for the past week or so...wanting to go get his sardines and leave them outside the door at our new place here.......

I got an email from someone last week asking about Leo. I figured it was just a followup from the lady we borrowed the humane trap from and couldn't remember what her email was. So I ans the questions and didn't think about it anymore.

I got an email from someone today with LEO in the subject line.

"We think we have your cat."

They were at the metro park a mile or two from our old house but the preserve part backed up to our house so......easy for him to get there. She said they found a hungry orange cat there on July 12th and brought him home. She was looking at the Cat FBI site just in case and saw his picture. She sent 3 pictures and I knew immediatly it was him before I even downloaded the pic.

I think the universe decided a needed a break. I'll take this small reprive.

We are gonna try to get him tomorrow or Wednesday.

Ok, that's all my memory is holding right now....I have kitty on the brain. So excited. We just need to hide him now bc we don't have the $200 pet deposit. shhhh........
